Google has confirmed that the Android Q update would be simply called Android 10. That is, the Android 10 update is not being named after any dessert started with the letter Q, a break from the naming scheme Google adopted for the Android OS updates thus far except for the few first ones in the Android OS’s history. As Xiaomi’s Manu Kumar Jain says, this marks an end of an era of the yummy names that included: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream, Jellybean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and Pie!

That said, we’re pretty excited to see what Google is offering with the Android 10 update and which devices would be receiving the update soon after the release. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the potential release date of Android 10 and the eligible devices.

Xiaomi

Which Xiaomi devices will get Android 10?

Well, here’s a list of Xiaomi phones that shall be getting Android 10 update:

Redmi K20 Pro Android 10

March 18, 2020: Xiaomi’s Mi A3 is a great device in its own right, but the company has had a hard time optimizing Android 10 for the budget device. The Chinese OEM released the software late last month but a rogue fingerprint scanner bug drew unwarranted criticism.

Now, after rigorous testing, the company has re-released Android 10, pairing it up with the March 2020 security patch. The OTA is rolling out as software version 11.0.8.0.QFQMIXM and weighs in at 33 MB for those who had already received the February release.

March 9, 2020: Android 10 is now available for Mi A2 Lite users under the partial rollout, as confirmed by the company and a sad Reddit user.

September 04, 2019: True that! As was earlier rumored (see below), Xiaomi has rolled out Android 10 update for the Redmi K20 Pro users already, XDA Developer reports. The update is available both in China and India, but not in the other markets. What makes this special is that this is a stable Android 10 update, not the beta build like the ones OnePlus released today. Not that OnePlus did any bad, but releasing the stable Android 10 update the same day as Google is surely worthy of tons of praise. However, Xiaomi’s portfolio of devices is large and how quick they are in updating most of the devices to Android 10 is what that will count.

August 30, 2019: Xiaomi is opening up its first Android 10 beta program, and it’s for the Redmi K20 Pro users. If you have the device and a thing to be the one to test out the latest OS update before others, well, here is your chance. Apply here. You can apply from today, and till September 8th. If selected, you will an Android 10 based MIUI 10 ROM. Find more details here.
