OnePlus has massively grown its user base over the recent years thanks to some awesome devices, but the company’s best moment must have been when it officially arrived in the U.S. via T-Mobile with the OnePlus 6T in late 2018.
To build on this success, the company has an even better phone dubbed OnePlus 7 Pro. By all means, this is the first true flagship phone the company has released and even though it skimps on one or two features, it stands out in three core areas: the display screen, performance speed, and price.
If you are in the market for a new phone and are still unsure about the OnePlus 7 Pro, we have put together the essential stuff you need to know about this phone, be it the latest news, specs, pricing and availability, software updates, and so on.
Latest news

For those who can’t get the grasp of it, well TWRP recovery is a custom recovery that allows you to install custom software on your device, including stuff like root (superSU and Magisk) and custom ROMs.
May 22, 2019: OnePlus has opened the beta testing for those willing to try Android Q on their brand new OnePlus 7 Pro handset. Being an initial rollout, the company has already identified some problems that you can expect to find in the software, but they should be ironed out with time as we edge closer to the stable rollout.
There is more to this story here.
The Chinese company has also promised to release a software update that will make the camera on the Pro “substantially better” than it is. This update will be made available in a weeks time or so, but we still don’t know if it will first grace the Open Beta channel before going stable.
May 15, 2019: OnePlus is rolling out a first-day update to the OnePlus 7 Pro as OxygenOS 9.5.2. The update has plenty that it brings to the device besides the latest Android security patch available from OnePlus – April 2019.
As part of the new OTA, OnePlus 7 Pro users will also receive a new DC Dimming feature, Fnatic gaming mode, improved scrolling, improved Digital Wellbeing, and so on. The update weighs about 500MB. More details here.
May 14, 2019: At the OnePlus 7 Pro launch event, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G were also unveiled. These two sit on either side of the OnePlus 7 Pro, but none of them will be sold in the U.S. The former is essentially the same OnePlus 6T with improved internals while the latter is the Pro model with a 5G modem.
Both phones will be sold in Europe and Asia, with UK’s EE and Finland’s Elisa already on the list of carriers set to bring the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G to Europe. More details here.

Price and availability
OnePlus 7 Pro was launched on May 14th in New York City. The phone was available for purchase as from May 17th. However, those who wished to get an early look at the device could do so on May 14th and May 15th, although this was limited to T-Mobile Signature Store Takeover Events in New York, Santa Monica, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Miami.
In 2018, OnePlus went into the $700 segment with OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and this year, OnePlus 7 Pro was expected to debut at a price close to this, which was actually the case.
The base model of OnePlus 7 Pro goes for $669. To get your hands on the 8/256GB model, an extra $30 should do the trick and for the ultimate 12GB RAM and 256GB storage option, you only need $749. For what you get, these prices are some of the best out there, but not unbeatable, which is what we’ve gotten used to seeing from OnePlus.
Why not unbeatable? Well, check out this: Why Asus ZenFone 6 is making prospective OnePlus 7 Pro buyers think twice.

Software update
Google released the first public Android Q beta update at the I/O 2019. During the event, the search giant revealed that more devices will take part in this year’s beta testing program. OnePlus 6T was among the list of devices to participate, but not the only one from OnePlus.
Once you get hold of your OnePlus 7 Pro, an update to Android Q beta will be waiting for you, if interested. It’s similar to last year’s OnePlus 6 launch, where the device was immediately welcomed into the Android Pie beta program following its release.
As for the stable Q update, it should arrive shortly after Google releases the stable version to the Pixels in August 2019. Also, the OnePlus 7 Pro will receive two years of Android OS upgrades and three years of Android security patches.
