Wonder Weapons in the ethos of Call of Duty’s Zombies series, have always been this set of unique weapons or guns that are distinctly available for only zombie maps. These aren’t your run of the mill regular guns from Multiplayer that have been made to sound and look cool.
We’re talking A5 category, prime. Weapons with a custom-built unique design, sound, and firing pattern, that’s meant to help you churn zombies into mincemeat.
Here’s how you can go about getting your hands on this awesome gun that is the D.I.E Shockwave ‘Wonder Weapon’ earlier on in-game.

How to find the Wonder Weapon Gun in Cold War Zombies?
Assuming you’ve switched the power on and forged the Pack-a-Punch machine (covered in our guide here), you will find a special kind of zombie called the ‘Megaton’ spawning outside after wave #8.
Kill the Megaton zombie and his minion spawns, and you shall receive an item drop: An ‘Ultra’ Keycard.
To use this keycard, head over to the weapons lab. You’ll remember this room to be the one where there’s a big Nuke hanging in the middle of the room. Enter the card into the machine inside here, and you’ll receive the ‘D.I.E Remote Control’ device from it.
Grab it, and head up towards the Nacht der Untoten room. Before you do this next step, you need to make a group of zombies follow you. Don’t kill them, but have them chase you to where this next step unfolds.
Run over to the crack on the wall here, interact with it, and it will enable a sort of trap through the metal door. Now with the trap active, have your horde pass through the front of the door and watch them get sucked in!
Head back to the crack in the wall, and interact with it to ‘discharge’. If you didn’t gather enough zombies, just repeat this step on the next round. The discharge should blow open the door, and you can finally get your hands on the D.I.E Machine ‘Wonder Weapon’ in the game!
Where to find all the Wonder Weapon Upgrades in Die Maschine Map?
So there are basically 4 upgrades to this D.I.E Shockwave weapon that you’ve just received. These are elemental upgrades, and there are specific steps that you’ll need to follow in order to get all of them. Here’s how you get started.

‘Electrobolt’ Wonder Weapon Upgrade
To find the Electrobolt weapon upgrade, you’ll have to find 3 crystals in the Dark Aether world. These are located in the Crash Site, the Pond and on the roof of the Nacht der Untoten building.

To get started, enter the Dark Aether through the nearest portal and one by one, run over to each of these crystals to ‘suction’ out the energy from them. This can be done using the alternate fire of your weapon D.I.E Shockwave:
Now don’t shoot this energy! Head over to the particle accelerator room, go down the stairs and you should find a small brown box in the corner here. Shoot the energy into this box, repeat this step for the remaining 2 crystals.
This will reward you with your first weapon upgrade, the Electrobol D.I.E upgrade. Using this, you can literally fry the hordes of freaks chasing you around the map in all its awesome glory!

‘Nova 5 Gas’ Wonder Weapon Upgrade
To get this second upgrade, what you need to do is head to the roof of the Nacht der Untoten building, its roof. You can access this part once gone through any Portal to reach the Dark Aether. Here, you should locate an empty canister out of reach:
Use the ‘suction’ alternate feature on the Wonder Weapon, and the canister should fly and land at your feet. Make sure you pick this canister up and then head over to the Weapons Lab, to the bottom of the room’s corner:
You need to place this empty canister on this spot here, and then fill it up with the gas released from killing Plague hounds. Yeah, those zombie dogs that release green gas when shot to bits.
Kill the dogs standing next to the canister and watch it get filled up. Collect the now full canister and run outside to the Crash Site, locate that similar brown box here and place it on top of it.
Next, shoot it and the box should reward you with the Nova 5 Weapon upgrade. You can then use this with your Wonder Weapon for deadly gas attacks!

‘Thermophasic’ Wonder Weapon Upgrade
To get this third weapon upgrade, go back to the Crash Site and locate the plane’s broken cockpit. Crouch, and shoot the small silver box inside to flip its top open.
After that, you need to enter the Dark Aether. So head to the nearest portal and jog on. Go back to this spot where you shot the box, and you’ll find the cockpit floating in the air. Pick up the ‘fuse’ from this open box.
Head ‘again’ into the Dark Aether from an open portal, and head into the corner in the Weapons Lab from where you filled your gas canister. Use the fuse on this box here to laser-cut the small container within:
To find where this box went once you’re back in the real world, head out to the pond and locate the truck there. Climb on from behind and collect the Thermophasic Weapon Upgrade from the box on it. Toast the freaks with this awesome gun next!
‘Cryo-Emitter’ Wonder Weapon Upgrade
This final and fourth upgrade can be unlocked by first heading over to the roof of the Nacht der Untoten building. Once here, shoot this box you’ll find on the corner of the railing with the ‘base’ version of your D.I.E weapon.
Head outside and collect the flask that was inside this box, now lying on the ground.
For the next step, you’ll need to wait for around the game to get to round 11 or so when Megaton zombies start spawning. Once the Megaton zombie arrives, head over to this tree over in the Pond which has some Mushrooms growing on its bark.
What you need to do is stand close to that tree, and have the Megaton zombie hit the Mushrooms growing on it. You should hear an audio cue when this is done and can see fungus glowing purple. Then, enter the dark aether world and come and stand below this spot to place the flask here:
After 2 minutes or so, come back to find the flask filled up. Pick it up and head over to the medical bay next. Find the brown upgrade box here and pour the flask onto it.
This will reward you with the final upgrade, the D.I.E Cryo-emitter weapons upgrade that’ll let you freeze hordes of zombies to thin icy dust.
