OnePlus announced the 6T at the end of October 2018, becoming the first from the Chinese company to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, that wasn’t the only first for the OnePlus 6T. There’s more, including official availability and support for multiple carriers in the U.S.

Despite having been around for several months and the fact that OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G are here to take over, the 6T still remains a top-notch device. And with more software updates, it should age gracefully. For those who plan on holding onto their current 6Ts for the foreseeable future here’s all that you need to know about the device.

Heads-up: It won’t be long before OnePlus discontinues the 6T, get one while you still can.

From the specs, OnePlus 6T is one beast of a phone. It might not boast the latest processor in town, but the Snapdragon 845 still handles everything you throw at it comfortably, but if you want more raw power, then the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is what suits you.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition

Renowned luxury carmaker McLaren and OnePlus teamed up for what became the latter’s most expensive ever piece of hardware at the time, but still relatively affordable compared to other smartphones made in partnership with luxury carmakers. The McLaren OnePlus 6T is mostly the same device as the standard 6T, but with a few perks of its own.

In addition to the McLaren-inspired cosmetics, this special edition 6T has a whopping 10GB RAM allied to 256GB of non-expandable storage and supports the company’s new Warp Charge 30W fast charging technology that promises 50% charge of the 3700mAh battery with just 20 minutes of charging. That’s super fast, really!

The new technology also keeps the phone cool during charging and even better is that using the phone while charging won’t affect the speed of power delivery.

OnePlus 6T features

What makes OnePlus 6T such a great piece of hardware is the amount of raw power and features it packs at a fraction of the price of its mates. In fact, you’ll be surprised to find some features on this phone that aren’t even on more pricier handsets. It gets even better as the device continues to receive new software updates that introduce even more features.

Price and availability

OnePlus’ success is based off affordable pricing, which is what the price of the 6T is. The base model debuted at $549, going up to $629 for the premium variant of 8/256GB. As for the McLaren Edition, you need $699 to get hands on one of these.

Besides selling through the official OnePlus online store, the 6T became the first from the company to sell through a U.S. carrier, T-Mobile. However, only the mid-range model with 8/128GB memory is available through the carrier priced at $550 outright or $22.92/mo. for 24 months.
