The Shattered Beacon is a special beacon-like dungeon north to northeast of the Blackridge Pass Beacon in Fainweald, and its main job is to unlock the Proxima Shell — it is not a normal rest or fast-travel Beacon.
Anyone hunting for Shells early in Mortal Shell 2 ends up looking for this one, because it is where Proxima is claimed. It shows up on screen as a glowing structure labelled Shattered Beacon, so it is easy to walk up expecting a rest point and leave confused. Different guides call its position north or northeast of Blackridge Pass, but that is just the angle you approach from — the reliable anchor is the Blackridge Pass Beacon itself.
How to reach Shattered Beacon in Mortal Shell 2
Travel to Blackridge Pass Beacon

Use it as your starting point in Fainweald — the Shattered Beacon is a short climb away.
Head north and uphill

Take the uphill fork that leads past the Resolve Tree and the rocky outcrops.
Clear the enemies on the path

Expect cultists fighting along the way and an Infested Stalker — the four-legged, spider-like enemy — guarding the site.
Enter the structure in the clearing

The glowing beacon-like structure at the top is marked Shattered Beacon; interact with it to step inside.
You must cleanse the Blackridge Pass Beacon, then push uphill and progress through the Shattered Beacon to claim Proxima.
What waits inside the Shattered Beacon

Step through and you will find Proxima’s remains laid out on a table inside. Interacting with them starts a short memory sequence rather than a boss fight, and playing it out to the end is what actually adds her to your roster.
Key Once the memory finishes and you exit, Proxima is unlocked as a fully playable Shell, and you can swap to her right away. That is the whole reason the dungeon exists — it is her origin space, not a challenge room.
How the Shattered Beacon differs from a normal Beacon
| Beacon type | Use |
|---|---|
| Normal Beacon | Rest, level up, swap gear, fast travel, and cleanse for Ovas. |
| Shattered Beacon | A one-time space that unlocks the Proxima Shell — no rest or fast-travel role. |
A regular Beacon is your bread and butter: you rest at it, level the Harbinger, change equipment, fast travel, and cleanse it for Ovas. The Shattered Beacon does none of that. It is a one-time unlock space, and its only function is handing you Proxima.
After you claim Proxima, the structure turns black and stops behaving like a usable Beacon, so do not count on it as a rest or fast-travel point later. One player report goes further and says it can never be entered again once you leave, but that is an unofficial account — what the guides consistently back is that it simply goes dark and no longer works as a normal Beacon.
After claiming Proxima: common mix-ups and where to go next
The biggest trap is treating the Shattered Beacon like a broken rest point and walking past it — you have to enter and finish the memory to get Proxima, and its dead, blackened state afterward is intended, not a bug.
Progression keeps flowing from right here. Head into the nearby Crumbling Tunnel to grab an early map, and the cave holding The King’s Crypt sits further north past explosive jars — so once Proxima is yours, there is plenty to push into without backtracking.
