Genshin Impact’s been out for over a month now, with its first major update hurtling at us at warp speed and many still clamoring to get a piece of the innovative Gacha ARPG that’s already hooked millions. Like any other RPG, Genshin Impact puts a heavy emphasis on linear character building and stat accumulation, and it’s in every player’s interest to learn how to level up fast.
Below is a handy manual on the most valuable components of any heavy-duty level-grinding plan to get you soaring through the AR Ranks and reach Genshin Impact’s rich end-game content so you can be poised to dive straight into the 1.1 Update coming out November 13.

How to Level Up Fast in Genshin Impact
Rush-Unlock the Basics
Your first priority, as soon as you start playing, is to rush to open up the map and unlock all of the essential activities. As soon as anything comes out, whether it be Commissions at AR Rank 12, Domains at AR Rank 16, or Storyline/Archon/Sidequest it doesn’t matter — get it done asap. The XP gained will only propel you to the next one, and the next one, and — you get the point.

Live in Accordance With Your Adventurer’s Handbook
Those looking to level up fast in Genshin Impact should be waking up, going to sleep, and eating all of their meals with the Adventurer’s Handbook by their side. Not only does it track your World Bosses, Domains, and Commissions, the Experience tab’s Chapters provide valuable rewards that include 100 Adventurer Rank XP on top.
The best way to capitalize on the Adventurer’s Handbook is to regularly consult it for things you can do while doing something else — killing multiple birds with one Superconduct is the name of the game when trying to level up fast in Genshin Impact. More on that later.

Ley Lines
Ley Lines are an underrated tool in any adventurer’s belt. While the Blossoms of Wealth are often cited as a great source of Mora later on, early-game Ley Lines can be a great boon to anyone in a rush to level up fast in Genshin Impact. Ley Line rewards also scale with level, offering persistently greater goods as you rise in AR level.
Live and Die by the Dailies
Commissions, Domains, World Bosses, Expeditions — do them all. If you’re a F2P player, you will have to prioritize what you spend your resin on, while full-blown wallet-warriors can go HAM and max out Resin refreshes six times. However you decide to play, never leave a Daily on the table and get them done before the refresh every single day. This is pretty much non-negotiable.

When Hit an XP Wall, Grind for Gear
Maybe you’re fresh out of storyline quests, dailies or Resin and you have some extra time on your hands until the next refresh. In that case, use whatever free time you have to grind for gear — look up an interactive map and search out some luxury chests or go after some of the free gear sources like Victoria in Monstadt Church who’ll give you a 4-star artifact just for the heck of it. You can also examine the sorts of materials required for gear or character ascensions and chase those down.
The point is: use your downtime to prepare for the higher AR ranks. The game starts off as nothing more than an almost literal walk through a very verdant park but ramps up the difficulty later on. Your goal is to level up fast, but if you’re planning to soar through AR ranks you better have the firepower to kill fast too.

Complete One-Time Dungeons ASAP
There is some confusion among newer Genshin Impact players as to what we’re referring to when we say Dungeons. Perhaps because of the way “Artifacts” actually refers to main-slot equipment in Genshin Impact, it’s easy to assume “Domains” is just the Genshin Impact version of any other RPG’s Dungeons.
This is not the case.
The distinction between the two is that Dungeons are instances that can only be completed once, while Domains are the Resin-chewing repeatable instances that you’ll be grinding as often as possible for gear soon enough. Dungeons are scattered across the map, often coming your way in-line with the story, and provide substantial rewards — making it well worth your time and effort to complete them if your goal is to, well, level up fast in Genshin Impact.

Explore in an Organized Fashion
This sort of ties into the point about using the Adventurer’s Handbook; whenever you’re heading out towards any specific location in Teyvat, look at everything else you could possibly do there on the way ahead of time.
This means chests. This means Anemoculus and Geoculus. This means paying close attention to other objectives there — including gear/character needs. Keeping all of the previous objectives in mind will turn you into a well-oiled leveling machine.
