Xiaomi Mi Note Pro to launch with Lollipop update pre-installed?

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro Lollipop Update

When Xiaomi announced the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, we really didn’t want to spoil the feel-good factor around by shouting out loud on the lack of Lollipop, as KitKat is what you get pre-installed on both the devices while 5.0 remains under plans. While Mi Note is already available for pre-order in China (look here if you are not Chinese), and it’s registrations are bombing Xiaomi’s servers reportedly, Mi Note Pro would go on sale only later on, in March. And that will be around 4 months since Lollipop has been around, so it becomes imperative that the flagship-killer-of-all-time launches with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed. No?

Well, good news is that a device by the name of Note Plus was unearthed from a benchmark listing, and that device was running just what you want, the Lollipop. Before January 15, Note Plus moniker would have made many believe it as a new device, but not that the dust is settled, view is clear, we know it’s none other than Note Pro, featuring the said Quad HD resolution you see on benchmark result screen in the image at top.

We’d wager the Mi Note Pro already has the Android 5.0 update under testing, and by the time it will launch, the Lollipop update will come pre-installed on Xiaomi’s captain. By the way, by that time, we think you will have a lot of choices to pick your companion from, for the next one or two years, as MWC will be over by March 5, and three major Android OEMs are keen to pull the kitten out of the bag.

Samsung may unveil as many as three devices: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge (with two edges, mind you!) and that top-end Samsung smartwatch dubbed as Orbis. While, Sony could come up with a sequel too, the Xperia Z4. And then there’s HTC, who has already told us about the March 1 event, where we can expect the One M9 (nicknamed Hima) and a smartwatch from the company.

Back to Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, it features an outstanding spec-sheet, which includes 5.7″ Quad HD display, 64-bit processor in Snapdragon 810, 4GB RAM (DDR4, no less!), 64GB internal storage and 3090 mAh battery, to name some, all in body that measures just 6.95mm thick, while featuring stylish 3D glass at the back, 2.5D glass on the front.

And it costs just 3,299 yuan, around $530. What else you’d want, not that Lollipop update also looks set to come pre-installed. We expect the Android 5.0 update for Xiaomi Mi Note to come soon too as it’s under testing now.
