Fortnite has just launched Season 5 and the new season brings along tons of upgrades. Among the upgrades is the addition of the ‘bounty’ mechanic that allows you to accept various challenges from NPCs all around the map.
In addition to this, Season 5 brings bosses to the game that allow you to win rare rewards once you defeat them. If you too have been on the hunt for bosses in Fortnite, then let’s take a quick look at each one that has been discovered yet.

What are Fortnite bosses in Season 5?
The game has introduced a new bounty mechanic and a new currency called Gold Bars. The bounty mechanic allows you to interact with NPCs to accept different challenges that will help you earn Gold Bars upon completing them. These Gold Bars can then be exchanged to receive exotic weapons from the same NPCs depending on your choice.
These interactive NPCs are traders in the game and are NOT bosses as many would have you believe. Bosses will put up a fight and attack you on sight while traders will simply wait for you to talk with them and will never attack you until a challenge accepted by you dictates to do so.
Currently, there are only 2 known official bosses in Fortnite:
- The Mandalorian
- Ruckus

Where are the bosses in Fortnite Season 5?
The Mandalorian and Ruckus have their own respective spawn locations where they can be defeated. Unlike traders, bosses award you with Mythic weapons and other items that can not be acquired through other means in the game. Let’s take a look at the location and rewards for each boss currently discovered in Season 5 of Fortnite.
The Mandalorian
- Location: Razer Crest, SW of Colossal Colosseum
- Reward: Mandalorian Jetpack and Amban Sniper Rifle
Simply reach the location shown on the map above and you should find the Mandalorian near his ship waiting for intruders. We recommend doing this once you have gathered the necessary resources and weapons as the Mandalorian is a formidable foe.

Ruckus
- Location: Hydro Dam
- Reward: Legendary AR & Epic Rocket Launcher
Ruckus hides in the main Dam building and you should be able to spot him from afar. Be wary though, as he wields the rocket launcher as well as a legendary AR and you could end up taking a lot of DMG within seconds. Once you kill him, you should be able to take the weapons for yourself.

How to defeat a Boss in Fortnite?
There are no tricks to defeating these bosses other than being well prepared. You will need some building skills as both the Mandalorian and Ruckus have some pretty powerful weapons. Still, here is a checklist to make sure that there is nothing in your arsenal pulling you down.
Use grenades to deal damage from afar. This might not work that well for the Mandalorian but should work great in the case of Ruckus especially if you are on higher ground.
Build defenses, especially when fighting against the Mandalorian as you will be in open space and he will have the advantage especially due to his Jetpack. Building defenses will give you cover to recover health and deal some extra damage through misdirection.
Stack up on shields, health, and go in with the most firepower. You might have to keep your distance with Ruckus due to the rocket launcher though, so using Sniper might not be a bad choice.
