On Dietrich’s route, reach level one with Smyrnos, upgrade 10 different Combat Arts at Smyrnos’s temple, return to reception, then pass Blacksmith’s Certification Exam.
The Blacksmith class can be unlocked while playing through Dietrich’s route in Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave. There are several requirements to complete before the certification exam becomes available.
The key requirement is upgrading Combat Arts at Smyrnos’s Temple. Once the required upgrades are completed and the other class conditions are met, the Blacksmith certification becomes available.

Gather Magic Echo Shards when upgrades stall
Rolling Breeze Hill is one encounter you can reach from the world map. That low-level encounter awarded three Magic Echo Shards; higher-level enemies provide renown, and lower-level carriage fights provide character experience. At a high level, auto-battle can handle these fights and continue through further skirmishes.
Carriage travel takes you to other areas: the route shown goes toward Salacia Posthouse and Mount Ouranos before another coastal scan. Higher-level areas provide more upgrade materials than the low-level encounter.
Pass the Blacksmith Certification Exam
After the temple notification, approach the Exam Proctor near the plaza statue in Hightown and select Blacksmith from the certification list. The exam panel shows Ideal Lv 35, a recommended unit level, and Renown Lv 8 as a requirement. Dietrich’s displayed exam menu gives him an 87% pass chance; that percentage is specific to his attempt.
Your character must also meet the class’s magic requirement before certification.
Pass the Certification Exam to use Blacksmith with that character. Once a class is unlocked for a character, switching into it is free.
