QUICK ANSWER
Reach the cavern beneath Bamboo Grove by taking the underwater passage close to the island house, and find Water Trainer Urokodaki there. Speak to him, then pay Wen and any applicable material charge to begin Water Breathing training.

Bamboo Grove Sanctuary lies south of Windy Peak, beyond the Bamboo Grove map marker and underneath the cliff line. You’re looking for a concealed room inside the sanctuary, outside the village, where Urokodaki waits. He isn’t on a rooftop.

Water Breathing trainer and training requirements

Sakonji Urokodaki teaches Water Breathing in Slayers 2. Look for the interaction name Water Trainer Urokodaki; Kaito is a different NPC, not the trainer you’re trying to find.

Visiting his location and qualifying for training are separate things. The journey has no level restriction, while starting Water Breathing training requires a 5,000 Wen payment and meeting Urokodaki’s entry requirements.

For the Water Breathing training, bring a katana. Raze sells the Regular Katana for 500 Wen and the Fancy Katana for 1,500 Wen, and either blade works for that training. A Kamado clan roll is separate from learning Water Breathing and isn’t required to obtain the style.

QUICK WIN

Read Urokodaki’s requirements before farming materials. His conversation lists what he wants, so you can target the materials needed for training.

How to reach the Water Breathing trainer from Bamboo Grove Sanctuary

Start at the sanctuary crystal and follow the descent toward the island house.

Finish Urokodaki’s training and learn Water Breathing

After training begins, complete the Water Breathing quests Urokodaki assigns. Reaching his room and opening the conversation are the start of the process.

Handing over the Wen and Demon Horns opens an objective tracker. Its training objectives allow flexible completion order, and failing one means retrying that objective while keeping your progress on the others.

Those drills include Parkour Dungeon, a timed platforming course, and Push ups, which uses quick-time key prompts. Boulder Push asks you to move a boulder through a maze before time expires, while Aim Training requires hitting the drill’s targets. For parkour, reaching the end also means staying within the run without falling out.

During Underwater Rocks, collect rocks from the riverbed and surface between grabs to replenish your air. Drowning ends that collection attempt, but completed progress on the other training objectives survives.

If you lose the duel, retry that training objective; whichever of the six training tasks you complete last unlocks Water Breathing.
