Reach level 25, obtain Axe and Mace from Stone Trainee in Stone Sanctuary, then complete Stone Trainer Gyorei’s training to unlock Stone Breathing.
Getting Stone Breathing in Slayers 2 means clearing two gates: a weapon drop and a training chain. Reaching the sanctuary puts both within reach, but speaking to the trainer alone won’t finish the job.
Prepare for Stone Breathing and the sanctuary climb
You need a human character on the Slayer path to learn Stone Breathing. Demon characters progress through Blood Demon Arts, which have their own questline. For the breathing requirement, work toward level 25 through quests around Windy Peak and the bear area.
Stone has a prerequisite that distinguishes it from the other breathing styles: you must obtain its weapon before training. Payment alone won’t bypass that requirement or the physical challenges that follow.
Already have a horse? Ride it for the journey to Stone Sanctuary; it gets you there faster than walking.
Follow the starting-area route to Stone Sanctuary
The starting area’s map labels include Windy Peak and Bamboo Forest: South. The approach passes through Wilderness and Bamboo Grove before reaching the cliffs.
How to reach Stone Sanctuary from the starting area
Follow the bear-area trail to the lower cliff walkway and the sanctuary wall.
STEP 1/7
14%
Leave the starting area
Follow the dirt path away from the starting gate toward the bear and mama bear area.
STEP 2/7

Pass the bandits
Continue past the bandits without drawing their aggression; the nearby boss health bar identifies The Serpent King Obari.
STEP 3/7

Keep moving past the mama bear area toward the cliff edge.
STEP 4/7

Jump down from the cliff onto the narrow platform walkway below, then follow the path through Verdant Cliffs.
STEP 5/7
71%
Descend to the fork

Follow the lower trail downhill until it divides into two branches.
STEP 6/7
86%
Continue toward the sanctuary
After the junction, follow the cliffside trail until the Stone Sanctuary location notification appears.
STEP 7/7
100%
Climb onto the upper grounds

Approach the tall stone wall and press T at the wall interaction, then climb over the ledge onto the upper temple grounds.
Farm the Stone Trainee for Axe and Mace
On the plateau, look near the ledge of a grassy hill for the Stone Trainee. From the trainer and nearby buildings, it’s only a short run away. The enemy has 600 HP, with Axe and Mace x1 (1%) listed in its reward display.
Defeat the Stone Trainee, then open the chest left behind by it. Keep repeating the fight and checking the chest until Axe and Mace drops. Winning doesn’t guarantee the weapon, nor does the trainer give it out: it drops exclusively from the Stone Trainee.
Axe and Mace is a legendary paired weapon with its own M1 attack chain. It also has ground-dragging effects.
Begin Gyorei’s training and finish the Stone trials
From the trainee, head toward the nearby temple’s large wooden building. Stone Trainer Gyorei stands beside its outside wall; his interaction reads [T] Stone Trainer Gyorei Chat.
Speak to Gyorei and fulfill his material request, using the item and quantity specified by your quest prompt. The hand-in comes before physical training. Once you meet his requirements and accept the required cost, the objectives appear in your quest tracker.
The training chain consists of six trials, which you complete in the sequence shown by your quest tracker. Activities include meditation and push-ups, along with pushing boulders, splitting boulders and a parkour dungeon.
Meditation and push-ups use input prompts. Read each meditation prompt carefully and enter the requested inputs; for push-ups, finish every required action before moving on. Boulder Push finishes when you push the rock along its designated route to the endpoint, while Boulder Split requires the prompted attacks until the rock breaks.
The Parkour Dungeon is timed and divided into sections, with levers opening access to further platforms. Head toward the lever’s side first, and touch each new section’s blue flag to save progress. Your Double Jump has a four-second cooldown, so reserve it for crossings that need it. In the three-lever section, plan the route before jumping; after activating the last lever, reach the course’s finish to clear the dungeon.
The final objective sends you back to defeat the Stone Trainee again with Axe and Mace. Reduce its health to zero, then return to Gyorei and speak to him to complete the unlock. Stone Breathing appears in your Skill Tree, with its first move available to purchase, and the style uses your paired Axe and Mace.
Separate Stone boss gear from the Nightfall upgrade
The Stone Buddha Gyorei is the nearby boss associated with additional Stone gear. Stone Trainer Gyorei is the dialogue NPC who teaches the style. The boss’s gear drops are a separate goal and don’t replace farming the trainee for your base weapon.
Stone Buddha Gyorei health and rewards
| Boss stat or reward | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | Approximately 3,000 HP |
| Scroll of secret technique: Missing Stone | Possible drop |
| Stone Heart | x1, 15% drop chance |
| Stone Necklace | x1, 15% drop chance |
| Stone Slayer Uniform | x1, 15% drop chance |
After obtaining the base weapon, the Nightfall Axe and Mace schematic is a separate upgrade-related objective. One schematic covers both weapons. Its pickup sits on a high interior platform among the rafters of a mountain pagoda.
Inside the schematic building, use the wooden platforms to climb toward the ceiling and interact with the schematic on the highest platform to collect it. An ability or weapon that provides vertical movement helps with that ascent. Collecting the schematic is part of pursuing the upgrade, separate from acquiring the base set and learning Stone Breathing.
