Google released Google Duo and Google Allo back in 2016; however, the latter didn’t manage to grab much attention and is now being discontinued for good.
Google Duo, on the other hand, is fairly popular and is one of the best video calling apps on Android and also offers the best video call quality according to various sources.
The only Android devices to have integrated Google Duo within the default phone, messaging, and contacts app are the Pixel devices themselves. As of now, no other Android OEM has integrated Google Duo within their own custom phone, messaging, and contacts apps.
However, OnePlus just announced that it is taking the step to bring Google Duo integration into the OxygenOS dialer, contacts, and messaging apps. OnePlus’s reason for the move is a study conducted in India which showed that Google Duo offered the best call quality amongst many other apps.
This new feature would be available for OnePlus 3/3T, OnePlus 5/5T, OnePlus 6/6T users and newer OnePlus devices as well. The OnePlus 6T would receive the feature with the stable OxygenOS 9.0.12 build.
The OnePlus 6, 5, 5T would receive the feature with the OxygenOS 9.0.4 update while the OnePlus 3 and 3T would gain the feature with the official Android Pie update for the devices.
