Our good old Nexus 4, which we all so dearly purchased for its cheap price, is now dropping out of official support from Google for newer Android updates.

So yes, it totally means that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update won’t be coming officially from Google to Nexus 4. Kind of sad, but it shouldn’t worry you much. You and I both know, Nexus 4 will still be among the first few devices to run Android Marshmallow, thanks to AOSP based ROMs like CM13, PA and others.

It has been rumored that Google will officially rollout Marshmallow update to supported Nexus devices by 5th of October, and the same is the release schedule for the source code of Android Marshmallow into AOSP.

So we’re expecting the CyanogenMod 13 (CM13) to release within a week or two of the release of Android Marshmallow source code. Once CM13 is ready, it won’t take more than a week for the holy folks at xda to get it booting on Nexus 4.

Happy Androiding!
