Motorola gets Google’s Call Screening feature

Google’s call screening feature is officially making it to Motorola phones. You heard right. If you have a phone from the Moto G7 family or one from the Motorola One series, your life is going to get so much breezier. Trust us, this feature is the bomb and you’re going to love it.

Google introduced the Call Screening function in Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Eventually, the folks at Google made it available on the Pixel and Pixel 2 series as well.

The Call Screening feature, or SpeakEasy, essentially allows your phone to use Google Assistant to screen calls.

When someone calls you and should you choose to screen it, Google Assistant will interact with the caller to know why they’re calling. Google Assistant will then save a copy of the conversation for you. The script of the conversation will look like this:

Hi, the person you’re calling is using a screening service from Google, and will get a copy of this conversation. Go ahead and say your name, and why you’re calling.

Pretty neat.

Motorola announced a partnership with Google to roll out not only the Call Screen feature but also Digital Wellbeing. The company mentioned on their blog that they have begun rolling out the feature, but it could be a couple of weeks till everyone gets it. SpeakEasy is a feature of the Digital Wellbeing experience.

Motorola says that both the features will be available on the G7 family and Motorola One handsets first.

We don’t know how long it’ll be till you could get your hands on the feature. Anyone with a Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power, Moto G7 Play, Motorola One or Motorola One Power will be receiving an update soon. Watch out for SpeakEasy, it may make your life super easy.
