The Clockwork Scythe is obtained by defeating Sariel, the Endless in the Chamber of Becoming near Silent Steps, and picking it up unlocks the Like Clockwork trophy.
The Clockwork Scythe is one of the primary weapons in Mortal Shell 2, and it is locked behind a single dungeon boss rather than a chest or a merchant. Everything worth grabbing here — the scythe, the Like Clockwork trophy, Sariel’s Shell, and the Caged Hystrix sidearm — comes out of one run through the Chamber of Becoming near Silent Steps. Here is the route in, the fight, and what to collect before you leave.
Clockwork Scythe and Like Clockwork at a glance
| Item | How to get it |
|---|---|
| Clockwork Scythe | Drops from Sariel, the Endless in the Chamber of Becoming |
| Like Clockwork trophy | Unlocks the moment the scythe enters your inventory (bronze) |
| Sariel’s Shell | Interact with the Shell that appears right after the fight |
| Caged Hystrix | Picked up near the dungeon exit, past Sariel’s memory |
| Caged Hystrix map (optional) | Bought from Merrick at Marrow Keep for 650 Coins; marks the location only |
Key The scythe, the trophy, and two more unlocks all sit in the same place, so it helps to know what you are collecting before you head down.
How to reach the Chamber of Becoming
Fast travel to Silent Steps

The Chamber of Becoming sits in the southern region of the map, southeast of the Ruins of Mammon, so head to the Silent Steps beacon or fast travel there once it is unlocked.
Cross the Bone Gate

From the beacon, step through the nearby Bone Gate to reach the fortress above.
Ignore the cultists and go left

Skip the cultist enemies ahead and keep to the left as the path climbs.
Dodge the rolling enemy

On the long staircase an enemy rolls down with spikes jutting out, so dodge past it rather than trading hits.
Head behind the statue

At the top you reach a large statue, and the dungeon entrance sits just below and behind it. Some players meet Sariel here first and have to beat him back once to open the gate, while others drop straight in through the elevator.
Beat Sariel, the Endless, for good
Heal, then take the elevator down

Top off with items or at the beacon before you drop in, because his lightning attacks hit hard.
Engage Sariel, the Endless

He fights as the dungeon boss and swings the very scythe you are here to claim.
Break all four stone tablets

Four tablets sit in the arena corners; hit every one to strip his revival before you go for the kill.
Land the final blow
With the tablets down Sariel can be put down permanently, and he drops the Clockwork Scythe on death.

Clear all four tablets before you land the last hit — finish Sariel with even one still standing and he revives, resetting the fight.
Claiming the trophy and the nearby rewards
The moment the Clockwork Scythe lands in your inventory, the Like Clockwork trophy pops — it is a bronze award whose only requirement is unlocking the weapon, so there is nothing extra to chase for it. Right after the fight your screen pulses red, which flags a Shell nearby; walk over and interact with it to play Sariel’s memory and add Sariel’s Shell to your roster.
From there, climb the stairs toward the exit and you will find the Caged Hystrix sidearm waiting. Grab it before you leave, because it is easy to stroll straight past on the way out and it sits in this dungeon only.
Do you need Merrick’s Clockwork Scythe map?
No. A Caged Hystrix map is sold by Merrick over at Marrow Keep for 650 Coins, and buying it drops a marker on the dungeon so it is easier to find. The Clockwork Scythe itself is earned from Sariel, not purchased, so treat the map as a navigation convenience rather than a step you have to complete.
What the Clockwork Scythe is good for

The Clockwork Scythe carries the Clockwork Chainsaw ability and has long, sweeping reach, which makes it a natural pick for carving through groups of enemies. It leans toward AoE clearing more than single-target burst, so it shines in crowded rooms more than in one-on-one boss duels.
If you want to push its damage, it upgrades from +1 to +10 using Ventrium at the early levels and Laterite higher up alongside Coins, climbing from 105% of its base damage to 150% at full investment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Caged Hystrix map from Merrick worth buying?
It is optional. Merrick sells it at Marrow Keep for 650 Coins, and it only marks the Caged Hystrix’s location on your map. If you are chasing every weapon location it is a handy shortcut, but you can reach Sariel, earn the scythe, and collect the Caged Hystrix without ever buying it.
What do I do if Sariel keeps reviving?
He revives until all four of the arena’s stone tablets are destroyed. They sit in the corners and glow faintly yellow at the base, and the aim on them can be awkward, so clear them between his attack windows and only then commit to the finishing blow.
Is the Caged Hystrix in the same dungeon?
Yes. The Caged Hystrix is a fast-firing ranged sidearm found near the exit of the Chamber of Becoming, just past where you view Sariel’s memory, so you can pick it up on the same run without backtracking.
