Within the titanic spectacle of blood, iron, and fury that is Assassin Creed Valhalla, at the center of it all is the game’s impressively engaging branching narrative. At regular points in the grim and immersive storyline, players are presented with divergent choices that can alter the trajectory of the game and directly impact the ending of the game itself.
Or, you know, do none of that.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Kill or Banish Gorm?
During the Birthrights quest, King Harald basically informs everyone that its his way or the highway and if you want to stay in town you better get ready to bend the knee. After throwing some resume at everyone, he asks if anybody wants to object and, well, gets zero takers. One person, however, seems a little too enthusiastic.
The immediately unlikable Gorm pops up and while professing his undying loyalty to Harald gets interrupted — by Harald, who tells Gorm he can keep the loyalty to himself. Harald asks you and Sigur what you want to do about this unlikeable Gorm and lets you decide what the future relationship of Gorm’s head to the rest of his body looks like.
You can kill or banish Gorm, and you can also tell Harald it’s up to him (he is king after all).

What to Consider?
Here’s the surprising thing: it doesn’t matter. While the storyline of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is replete with true forks in the road, where the choice you make has a direct impact on the possible outcome of the entire game, this is isn’t one of them.
Whether you choose to kill or banish Gorm or have Harald decide, Harald’s going to decide anyway; Gorm is going to be sent packing whether you wanted to poke him with a sword or not. Indeed, it seems that the only purpose of this scene is to establish that Gorm’s going to be renamed Worm and exiled — [super obvious spoiler alert] only to reappear later. We won’t tell you what happens there.

Our Recommendation: Go With Your Heart
Like we said: Kill or banish Gorm, it doesn’t matter in the end. The only thing you need consult is your own roleplaying preferences — what would you do, how would you feel about Harald asking you to decide and then deciding and maybe use that as fodder for future choices down the road. It’s an RPG after all, and the first reason to play an RPG is for immersion — so go, immerse!
