Each step up the ladder costs the same on either model. The first two steps charge about $0.78 for each extra gigabyte, and the move from 1TB to 2TB about $0.59. Going all the way to 2TB adds $1,200 in the US and ₹1,50,000 in India.
Paying monthly: Apple Upgrade and Apple Card
Apple Upgrade is a consumer lease, not a purchase or a loan, and Klarna provides it. iPhone leases run 12 or 24 months, no security deposit is required, and the first monthly payment is due about 30 days after the phone ships or is ready for pickup.

Apple calls these typical monthly payments, and they exclude taxes and any trade-in credit. The figure Apple publishes for iPhone 18 Pro Max is $54.12 a month over 24 months.
Leasing an iPhone means connecting an eligible AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon line when you enroll, and the leased iPhone is always unlocked, so you can switch carriers at any time. The phone has to come back in good working condition or Klarna charges a one-time damage fee. AppleCare coverage is not included with the lease, and you have up to 60 days after enrollment to add it.
Do nothing at the end of the term and the lease extends month to month for up to six months. Let that run out and Klarna charges you the full price of the device at lease signing, minus the payments you have already made, plus tax, and the device is yours. On a 24-month lease at $34.99, those payments come to $839.76 against a $1,199 list price, which leaves $359.24 before tax.
Apple Card Monthly Installments is a purchase rather than a lease: 0% APR, with one installment due every month for 24 months on an iPhone. You still choose AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon at checkout, prepaid carrier plans are not supported, and an iPhone bought this way is always unlocked.
The 0% APR covers the phone itself. Taxes and shipping charged to the card fall under your standard variable APR, which as of July 1, 2026 runs from 17.49% to 27.74% on new Apple Card accounts.
Trade-in: what Apple states
Apple Trade In credits $175 to $885 instantly toward an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max when you trade in an iPhone 13 or later. A carrier trade-in can reach $1,200 in credit for an iPhone 14 or later.

Trade-in values vary with the condition, year and configuration of the device you send in, and not every device is eligible for credit. Apple needs your device within 14 days of you receiving the new phone, and the estimate stays valid for those same 14 days.
If trade-in credit takes the net price of a new iPhone under $99, the option to pay monthly is not offered.
Carrier deals at launch
AT&T and T-Mobile each run a trade-in offer on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the credit is tiered by the plan you are on. The T-Mobile figures are the existing-customer ones, and adding a line or joining as a new customer carries its own set.

Which figure inside a range you get comes down to the model you trade in, and T-Mobile allows a maximum of four promotions per account.
Both carriers charge $35 to start the line, an activation or upgrade fee at AT&T and a device connection charge on your next bill at T-Mobile. AT&T requires a 36-month 0% APR installment plan.
What the price includes
Apple’s specs list the same A20 Pro chip and 48MP Pro Fusion camera system at every storage tier, so the extra money buys capacity. Both models come in Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy.
The box holds two things: the iPhone with iOS 27 and a 1 m USB-C Charge Cable. Wired fast charging needs a 60W-capable adapter with Adjustable Voltage Supply, available separately.
An iPhone 18 Pro purchase comes with three months of Apple One at no cost. AppleCare+ is bought separately and provides unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection, each incident subject to a service fee.
FAQs
Do I own the phone at the end of an Apple Upgrade lease?
No. The device goes back at the end of the term. Ending a lease early can cost up to the amount of your remaining lease payments, so upgrading after 21 months of a 24-month lease means paying the final three monthly payments plus tax.
What if I change my mind after the phone arrives?
You have 14 days after receiving a leased device to send it back in good working condition, and the lease is cancelled once it arrives. After that you owe the unpaid monthly payments through the end of the initial term, plus tax. An Apple Upgrade order that is not picked up within 7 days is cancelled and the charges refunded.
Can I trade in a cracked or engraved iPhone?
T-Mobile accepts a trade-in in any condition on Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience Beyond and Go5G Next, for all customer types. Apple engraving does not affect a trade-in value, though third-party engraving can.
When does trade-in credit reach me?
A mail-in trade-in generally takes 2 to 3 weeks, and the credit itself takes 3 to 5 business days to process.
How do the India payment options work?
Apple offers No Cost EMI in India, and its monthly pricing there is based on EMI with qualifying cards at 15.99% p.a. over a 6-month tenure. Instant cashback requires a minimum transaction value of ₹10,001 and is limited to two orders per rolling 90-day period with an eligible card. Pre-orders open at 5:30 PM IST on 12 September, with availability from 18 September.
