When Google opened up Android P beta program to non-Pixel devices, it was a surprise that Huawei didn’t enroll any of its flagship phones into the program. The company had to wait until the IFA 2018 to make its plans regarding Android Pie update official, but it appears the wait for the OS to begin rolling out may not be long.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has cleared variants of the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro with Android 9 Pie on board, suggesting that the rollout should commence soon. Now, “soon” in this case can mean a lot of things ranging from one week to two or even three months, so don’t get your hopes too high. On the brighter side, it gives us assurance that the update has been cleared for release, only awaiting Huawei to finalize testing and hit the update button.

As you wait for the stable release of Pie on your Mate 10 or P20 handset, you can grab the beta version of the OS and get ahead of the queue. However, note that this is unfinished software, so be ready to deal with issues like app crashes and such stuff.
