ZTE Axon 7 update (B25) rolling out with support for Night Mode, 256GB microSD cards and various bug fixes

The ZTE Axon 7 (A2017U) is receiving a major update today after the Nougat release which rolled out for the device past month. The update brings a couple of new features and fixes several issues that came with the initial Nougat release for the device.

The latest update for ZTE Axon 7 comes with firmware build B25, and will begin rolling out in the next 24 hours. Below is the full official changelog for the update:

  • Enables “Night Mode” setting
  • Supports 256GB microSD cards
  • Allows users to disable some stock apps
  • Optimizes the “Do Not Disturb” function
  • Fixes various Wi-Fi Calling issues
  • Improves device stability and security
  • Miscellaneous performance improvements and other fixes

The update brings the much awaited Night Mode feature to the Axon 7, and also adds support for 256GB microSD cards. The official release note mentions improved stability and security for the device, which probably means the April security patch is in tow as well.

ZTE has specifically focused this update based on the user feedback from the initial launch of Nougat for ZTE Axon 7. Hence, hopefully, this resolves all of the issues Axon 7 users have been facing since installing the Android 7.0 update onto their devices.

  1. Axon 7 was one of the best phone of 2016 when came out and a strong competitor to OnePlus3 when it comes to price to feature ratio, since it had a better screen, better speaker and a compelling camera for the same or less price as that of OnePlus 3 and it also held good thanks to the SD821 upgraded Axon 7s launched this month, Axon7 was one of the first few phones in US to get Android 7.0 update and company is still providing time to time updates to it, as said in the article there were some software issues with the updates but thanks to the latest update those r also resolved and make it a promising device overall even in 2017!!

    1. Sadly it wasn’t released here in India and OnePlus 3T got very close to zero competition in India with that price and only got one aftee the mi6 was released.

    2. Yes, this device really flew for ZTE. On top of all the perks of this phone you have mentioned, the audio output of this phone was apparently mind-blowing. ZTE really proved themselves with this phone, I admit. A neck to neck competition for OP.

    3. Considering the huge gap between the Mi6 release and OP3t, OP got a huge lead on them and have raked in all the profits and sales they could. It was sort of a the opposite of Xiaomi. Unreleased in India, released in the west.

    4. Right now Xiaomi doesn’t want to release their flagships in India as they claim it’ll be too expensive even though the response was huge from the Indian market and media….so looks like the OP 3t will still be enjoying profits from the 30k segment until something else comes up (maybe the mini G6?)

    5. By the looks of it, the next best phone to arrive in that segment seems to be the op5 itself since I don’t think the g6 mini or any phone can offer the what is offered by op3t for a price like that.

    6. Hmm OP5 seems to have quite a hype especially woth the 3t raising the bars and giving them a name for killing flagships ,hopefully they maintain that and don’t try a stunt. They ofcourse have received huge profits from the 3T but I have a feeling that it (op5)might get competition if the tweaked version is the same pricing but yet again the OP5 has an SD 835….we might see a repetition of the S8 competition yet again here.

  2. 1 or 2 updates seem to be what all phones usually have but nice to see that they’re bringing them in.Didn’t know that it was possible to upgrade the max storage capacity by software …you learn something new everyday.

  4. That is a major feature upgrade. Every one of the changes in the changelog isn’t a small incremental change. Most of them are big. What really appeals to me about this phone is its Hi-Fi audio technology. It has a superior DAC and a front facing Dolby Atmos speaker making the sound output from this device, be it headphones or speakers absolutely stunning and way better than most competition. I have never had the chance to experience this myself unfortunately but the reviews and opinions all over the web vouch for it

    1. Most phone vendors don’t give a hoot about audio and only aim to fill up the other specs. Kudos to zte for the audio 😀 and I an sucker for phones with front facing speakers 🙂

    2. And I am a *

    3. Same here. After HTC’s boomsound front speakers on the m7, m8 and m9 arrived and disappeared with their further iterations, no one was matching those standards set by HTC, including HTC themselves. Then ZTE came along with the axon line. (:

    4. The u 11 has boomsound 😀

    5. And I was delighted to learn that. 😀 Fingers crossed, it should be as mind blowing as it used to be
