From Challenges, pranks and product promotions to public messages, the short video format of TikTok can be used for anything as long the creator is ingenious enough. This addictive Social Media platform is here to stay and we expect to see some great content from TikTok on a fairly regular basis.

Of course, the end of any trend on TikTok is views and the main reason why any trend is adopted is to capitalize off of its viral potential. Even TikTok influencers must make a living so even if it’s a dance challenge or something skill-specific, TikTokers will have some rendition of it.

But that’s not the case for every viral concept, some have an amazing payoff for very little effort. One such trend is the Redbone TikTok trend that took TikTok by storm in the last month and continues to be viral even now. Here’s everything that you need to know about it.

What is the Redbone TikTok trend?

TikTok creators are undoubtedly becoming more creative in terms of the kind of content they are coming up with for the platform. The Redbone TikTok trend is only the latest trend to take on the platform by storm and for good reason too. Unlike a dance move or prank skit, this one goes to the next level by revealing an interesting fact about the other person in the video.

This trend was created by TikToker Khaleel Abdullah and achieved viral status in the previous month. As part of this joke, he created a song that combines Redbone by Childish Gambino and the instrumental sound that anyone who watches PornHub will be familiar with. This song he complied came to be called ‘Hey Lol’. When the audio is played in front of a friend or family member and they recognize the PornHub audio, that’s how you can tell that they are pretty familiar with Pornhub and are even frequent visitors.

How to identify the Redbone TikTok trend

The most crucial identifier of the trend is of course, the song ‘Hey Lol’

Usually the song plays and the person recording the audio points the phone camera to whoever is sitting either next to them or in the general area of the room to check for the reaction of the person in it or enters for a confrontation upon hearing the song. A sign of recognition is usually the way to tell that they are familiar with Pornhub.

Another execution of this trend also records girlfriend reactions. Usually played in a room alone, this song triggers the girlfriend to come in and check what their significant other is up to. The suspicion is that they are watching porn but of course, they walk in to realize it’s just a video for TikTok.

There are other renditions of this trend and one that uses Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again‘ is particularly popular. Honestly, the intro can be mixed with pretty much any song so it can be customized however you like.
