Every Fortnite season has invariably seen some changes to the map, both big and small, and Chapter 2 Season 5 is no exception. Now that the Marvel story arc has transitioned to the new reality, players are curious to know what new areas of the map are going to be revealed.
Some major map overhaul was always expected, more so once we witnessed the destruction left in the wake of the battle with Galactus. This has caused a massive shift in the fabric of time and space, and thank god for that, for the area that fans have been begging to see ever since May 2019 is now back. Yes, we are talking about Tilted Towers, but there’s a caveat.

Season 5 Map Changes
There are some map changes that we have identified now that the timeline has warped and a new reality is emerging. Even though fans were desperate to see the classic Fortnite map or a completely new map for Season 5, Fortnite did neither and instead found the middle ground in the form of a few major changes.
There are a total of 17 places that have received a nominal makeover. One of the biggest changes comes in the form of Zero Point taking over the area where Authority once was with a desert surrounding it now. Where Stark Industries once was, now Roman Coliseum stands tall.
In the North, a small area by the name Stealthy Stronghold has emerged while in the South, an area called Hunter’s Haven has appeared. More changes will be introduced as the season progresses, but let’s take a look at the change that everyone has been hoping to see, which comes in a new form.

Return of the Tilted Towers in Fortnite Season 5
Tilted Towers has been sorely missed ever since it was removed in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 8 with the effect that players took it to social media in masses imploring Epic Games to bring it back.
It appears they had been listening and have brought back Tilted Towers in Season 5. But it is not as nostalgia-stricken players would have expected. Instead, it comes in a new form, merged with another area – Salty Springs which was also a fan favorite.

Salty Towers – A Mix of Salty Springs and Tilted Towers
Instead of bringing back both areas separately, we have a merger of the two, entitled ‘Salty Towers’, which preserves elements of both Salty Springs and Tilted Towers in part. As such, Fortnite has catered to veterans while also ensuring the gameplay remains fresh.
Of course, it may not be exactly what players would have had in mind when they received the news that Tilted Towers was returning in Season 5, but it is definitely better than nothing. There are still some known buildings where players can battle it out which should allow them to placate their nostalgia for the classic Fortnite island for the time being.
It is possible that Tilted Towers from Season 1 may return someday to Fortnite, but it doesn’t seem to be anytime soon. Until then, we have to make do with Salty Towers which is the closest thing that we have to Tilted Towers.
