TikTok may be on the lam, but that doesn’t mean that others can’t profit off of it. TikTok merch abounds the streets with people flaunting their favorite ‘Sway House‘ or favorite creators. One such thing to come out of the social media app is the game ‘What Do You Meme’. This hilarious game is a great ice breaker at parties and is sure to get the funny juices flowing.
What is ‘What Do You Meme’ TikTok game
‘What Do You Meme’ is a fun card-based party game. The game was originally developed by Instagrammer @f*ckjerry in 2016. The game was hugely successful and was the ninth best selling game on Amazon in 2017! The game is essentially built along the lines of ‘Cards Against Humanity’ with a funny play on the words ‘what do you mean’.
Following the fame of some of the TikTok stars, the TikTok edition of the ‘What Do You Meme’ game was recently launched by Firebox. This version includes famous TikTok creators on the Image cards, with funny TikTok tea on the Caption cards.
The game is a great way to break the ice at a party and get to know which of your friends follow which creators on TikTok (embarrassing much?).
How to play ‘What Do You Meme’ TikTok Edition
The aim of the game is to try to be the wittiest or funniest (or even most inappropriate) among the group. But you can’t use your words! You can only use your cards in your hand to do so.
Before the game starts, you must choose one person to be the judge. This person’s job is to judge how funny the rest of the players’ responses are (tough job, really).
Each player gets 7 Caption cards each face down. The judge keeps the stack of Image cards face down in front of him.
The judge now chooses a random Image card without looking at it and shows it to everyone in the group. Each player then takes a look at their own set of Caption cards in their hand. The players must choose one Caption card that they think is the funniest or wittiest answer to the meme Image card.
The players then give their answer cards to the judge facedown. This is important since the judge should not know who has submitted what answer.
Once all the players have turned in their Caption cards in response to the Image card, the judge can turn them over and start reading them out loud.
Note: Each time a round is played, the players must draw a new Caption card from the pile to maintain their seven-card hand.
How To Win a Round
The judge must choose their favorite caption card from the ones submitted for that round. A fun way to do this is to ask everyone playing what they think is the funniest response. The judge can even take a vote on each caption card to see who has the funniest response.
Once the winner is declared, they get to keep the Image card. The winner of each round collects the Image card for that round. The winner of the game is the player with the highest number of Image cards.
