How to solve the catacomb puzzle in The Hollow

STEP 1

Enter the catacombs

Walk through the purple portal barrier to enter the catacomb chamber.

Inspect the gravestones

Examine the eight gravestones and read the wall riddle beside Josiah Crane. Subtract each birth year from its death year to identify the three shortest lifespans. The riddle’s “small to tall” instruction tells you to order their symbols from lowest to highest age. Thomas Wren is in the adjoining corridor, with Ada Fenn beside its entrance. Stone steps lead to Edith Harrow; Ruth Pember is in another room.

Access the coffin lock

Approach the wooden coffin at the room’s center and use its interaction prompt to bring up the GRAVE LOCK interface.

Set the three symbols

Set tumbler I to witch hat, II to bat, and III to cat, matching the shortest lifespans in ascending order.

Open the coffin

Click Open on the right side of the interface to unlock the coffin.
