QUICK ANSWER
Farm Scorpius Trenches by using the Seafrog to pull Great Jaw materials such as the Mega Acidic Sack and feed them into Resource Crushers. Repair the Trident by finding the Axum power core in Main Nest Detritus and inserting it into the unfinished submarine project. This route belongs to a work-in-progress developer build and is not available in a normal survival save.

You cannot farm with the Seafrog or repair the Trident in a normal Subnautica 2 save yet. Run this route in the experimental developer build, which contains the Scorpius Trenches zone, alien harvesting machinery, and a repair sequence ending on a placeholder victory screen. The content remains in development and can change or disappear before release.

Why this is leak footage, not a live 1.2 walkthrough

The current live version is Early Access 1.2 “Buddy System,” released August 19, 2026. It adds four-player co-op with proximity voice chat, player revives, emotes, direct inventory trading, and the Tracking Tag item. It does not add a new region or vehicle. A new region and more story content are still on the way.

Trident, Seafrog, and Scorpius Trenches are absent from the live patch notes. They belong to an experimental build with the developer layer enabled, where you can scan objects, spawn them through the command console, and use their unfinished mechanics. The on-screen warning “Early Access Preview Area Building Disabled” identifies the area as a testbed outside normal survival progression.

Inside the leaked Scorpius Trenches setup

Item Role
Axum Buildings Alien facilities that harvest Great Jaw Leviathans for materials
Resource Crusher Grinds oversized materials into components; has an interactable output slot
Axum-tech Multitool Scannable alien tool; unlocks a blueprint but is currently inert
Seafrog chassis Walker chassis with an arm-mounted gravity grabber for hauling large nodes
Great Jaw Leviathan Dead leviathans (internally “Clamthulu”) holding harvestable material
Mega Acidic Sack Resource pulled from the leviathan’s tongue; feedstock for the crusher
Volatile Acid Crusher output, listed as a component in fleet vessel power systems
Axum Harp Unknown machine with a press button, possibly power or facility related
Main Nest Detritus Nest chamber below the basin where you unplug holes to reach the core
Trident / Big Sub project A submarine buried in sand, needing a power core to repair

Scorpius Trenches is a deep zone of purple-lit crevices and canyons dotted with geothermal Heat Spires crusted in gold. Stay inside the trenches to use them as cover from the collector leviathans patrolling the area while you gather resources. Floating developer labels name the alien structures Axum Buildings. These facilities harvest Great Jaw Leviathans with small alien arms that grind up the giant clams and route their material into a large Resource Crusher.

Scan the two objects around the platforms. The Axum-tech Multitool resembles an alien wrench and unlocks an inert blueprint, while scanning several Resource Crusher units unlocks the crusher blueprint. The “PH” tag marks both objects as placeholders. The area also contains the following machinery, resources, and objectives.

How to run the Seafrog crusher route in Subnautica 2

Key Run the crushing loop with a Mega Acidic Sack. The Clamthulu Empty Node fails, but the second material processes correctly.

STEP 1/5

Spawn the crusher and Seafrog

Spawn the crusher and Seafrog

Open the command console and use the spawn commands to place a Resource Crusher and Seafrog chassis in the zone.

STEP 2/5

Try the Clamthulu Empty Node first

Grab the large blue Clamthulu Empty Node with the Seafrog and lower it into the crusher. The Seafrog carries the node, but the Resource Crusher will not process it.

STEP 3/5

Pull the Mega Acidic Sack from the dead Great Jaw

Climb onto the dead Great Jaw Leviathan and biocan the resource lodged in its tongue. The resource is the Mega Acidic Sack.

STEP 4/5

Feed the sack into the crusher

Drop the Mega Acidic Sack into the top of the Resource Crusher. The machine pulls it inside almost instantly.

STEP 5/5

Collect the Volatile Acid

Take the Volatile Acid from the crusher’s output slot. This unstable material is a component used in fleet vessel power systems.

How Seafrog farming works

The Seafrog is a walker-style chassis for the Tadpole. This exosuit replaces free swimming with seabed traversal and carries a gravity grabber in its arms. Use the Seafrog to climb the giant leviathan carcasses, extract oversized nodes such as the Mega Acidic Sack, haul them through the caves, and deposit them in a Resource Crusher for processing into usable components.

The Seafrog is only a previewed chassis in the live game and cannot be built yet. Run the route with a console-spawned Seafrog and crusher rather than a survival-mode setup. The Clamthulu Empty Node will not process, while the Mega Acidic Sack produces Volatile Acid. The final selection of crushable nodes and their outputs can change before release.

How the Trident repair ties into Scorpius Trenches

The Trident submarine sits buried in sand near a copy of the Cyclops at the top of the zone. Its core has been removed, and previous pioneers tried to hotwire the submarine to nearby power structures. The doors remained locked because the structures were not receiving power from the plant. Activate the power plant to send power into the Trident, trigger emergency mode, and open the door leading to the Depth Mark 2 module inside an Axum building.

For the main repair, retrieve the missing power core. Enter the Main Nest Detritus chamber beneath the basin, cross the floor covered in Great Jaw pearls and barnacle-like piles, and unplug the holes to locate the core. It surfaces as a scannable Big Sub Key Item power core. Insert it into the Big Sub repair project, which is assembled from alien technology and scavenged junk and requires an Axum Fission Core to operate again. The Tadpole and Seafrog provide the traversal and hauling needed to reach these pieces. The build does not set whether the Trident repair or Seafrog construction comes first. Spawning the completed project opens a placeholder “BIG SUB REPAIRED!” window that identifies the repair as the moment you beat EA2.

What you can and cannot do in the live build

Content Current status
EA 1.2 co-op (voice chat, revives, trading, Tracking Tag) Live and playable
Scout Ray and Haul Tadpole chassis In the live game
Seafrog chassis Previewed only, not buildable in the live build
Trident submarine Placeholder assets in the files, not repairable in survival
Scorpius Trenches zone Developer build only, not a live region
Resource Crusher and Seafrog farming loop Console-spawned test only
QUICK WIN

Don’t hunt for the Trident, Seafrog, or Scorpius Trenches in your survival save — none of this content can spawn without the developer layer. Spend your co-op time on the live 1.2 content instead.

The future update route

This future progression route combines deep branching caves, Axum machinery that must be powered before it opens, alien resource processing through the crusher, and Seafrog traversal for reaching and hauling key materials. The buried Trident and its “BIG SUB REPAIRED!” screen form a later progression milestone rather than a current objective. The developers have not announced whether it will serve as the EA2 finale or a mid-update goal, and the final Scorpius Trenches layout remains in development.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you repair the Trident in normal Subnautica 2 Early Access right now?

No. The live EA 1.2 build has no Trident repair quest, blueprint, or resource cost. The submarine exists only as placeholder assets in the game files, and its repair sequence—finding a power core and inserting it into the Big Sub project—requires the developer console.

Is the Seafrog available without developer commands or mods?

No. The Seafrog is a previewed walker chassis for the Tadpole and cannot be built in the current game. Grabbing nodes and feeding the crusher requires a console-spawned chassis, so you cannot earn or craft it in a survival save yet.

Is Scorpius Trenches the next playable region?

No. A new region is on the way, but it has not been formally named or released. Scorpius Trenches exists only in the developer build and is not designated as the next live biome.
