The road to the Sony Xperia Z5 Nougat update has been a bumpy one. The Android Nougat update to the device which was released sometime in mid-January was halted after a couple of days due to various bugs/issues, one of which was related to audio playback via third-party apps. Although, the OEM resumed the OS roll out last month citing that all bugs have been fixed, the issue of ‘low in-call volume’ persists.

Well, Sony has issued an official statement regarding this particular problem saying that it will release a fix for the said issue next month. Yes, Xperia Z5 users will have to do with the volume problem for at least another month. Sony will roll out an OTA update sometime in mid-April to address the issue.

However, as a temporary solution, you can try performing a factory data reset on your Xperia Z5 phone.

Sony Mobile states:

“This will be fixed in an upcoming software update planned for release in the middle of April, 2017. In the meantime, a workaround is to perform a factory data reset. Please make sure that you backup data stored on the internal storage that you want to keep before performing a factory data reset. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

“The speaker calibration starts the first time you are using the speaker, and later requires that the loud speaker is idle for 30 minutes. The calibration is completed after up to ten hours.”

Other problems accompanying the low in-call volume issue are headphone volume and an imbalance of the top and bottom speaker.
