Samsung Galaxy S6 Release slated for March, Exynos processor replaces Snapdragon 810!

Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date

Bloomberg is reporting that Samsung Galaxy S6 is due for release as early as March 2015, and that the company has dropped obvious choice in 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chip from Qualcomm — that powers LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Note Pro — in favor of its own 64-bit octa-core Exynos chip for its next Galaxy S. Reportedly, Samsung tested Qualcomm’s chip and found the overheating problems with it, thus deciding against it. Samsung’s definitely helped in this bold decision by the new $15 billion investment it made in a new factory that should be now producing processor units that will power the Galaxy S6 sets. It may have to do with design changes Samsung’s looking to bring in with Galaxy S6 — that should feature glass back and aluminium chassis — as it’s aiming to improve on Galaxy S5’s aesthetics which were quite unpopular among critics and fans alike.

There were already rumors floating about Samsung being unimpressed with SD810, and that company will begin selling the majority of Galaxy S6 sets — around 80-90% — with octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit processor. Also, that Samsung planned to use Qualcomm’s processors when overheating issue is solved, or when Qualcomm upgrades it manufacturing process to use 16nm one. Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 chip is said to employ 14nm process, while a leaked roadmap of Qualcomm’s processors suggested one such processor too.

This year’s MWC is scorching up with the expected announcements from HTC, Samsung and Sony. HTC could unveil a new HTC One handset along with a smartwatch, company’s first, while Sony is expected to announce its this year’s flagship in Xperia Z4 at MWC. Samsung could announce Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Active, and also a premium smartwatch known by the name of Orbis tentatively.

The latest rumors about the Galaxy S6 indicate that it won’t be water-proof device like the Galaxy S5, and instead it will be Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, that will be the one.
