PUBG is arguably one of the most played games on all platforms it’s available on. PUBG Corp. has now launched the new PUBG Lite Beta for PC which aims to bring the epic battle royale experience to those who don’t have access to high-end gaming laptops or PCs.

This new Lite version of the game would be able to run on PCs with low-end specifications as well and would be a toned down version of PUBG PC. What’s even more interesting is that unlike PUBG PC, PUBG Lite is a free-to-play game.

PUBG Lite is currently in the beta testing phase and is only available in Thailand at the moment. PUBG Lite would be a standalone game and players on the Lite version would not go up against players on any other platform.

“Deliver the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS experience to players in areas where the core game’s required specifications are more difficult to achieve due to the hardware available.” stated on the official PUBG website.

PUBG Lite would have its own dedicated team to work on the game and introduce new features and bring along changes in the future.

The graphics are somewhat similar to that of PUBG Mobile when in ultra HD mode; however, does seem to be a tad better of course. Let’s take a look at a few more details of PUBG lite.

Minimum required specifications

Here are the minimum specifications required to run PUBG Lite:

  • 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
  • Intel Core i3 2.4GHz processor.
  • 4GB RAM.
  • 4GB Storage.
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU.

Recommended specifications

Here are the recommended specifications to enjoy smooth gameplay:

  • 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
  • Intel Core i5 2.8GHz processor.
  • 8GB of RAM.
  • 4GB Storage.
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 GPU.

What’s available in PUBG Lite Beta

As of now, only the basic Solo/Duo/Squad mode is available in TPP mode with the Erangle map. There are no other modes available such as the arcade mode or the FPP mode.

Beta testers would only be able to play in the Erangle map which could possibly be the only map to be available when the game is officially announced after which new maps would be added in future updates.

Given that the game is still in beta testing, there are several bugs which have to be worked upon and we hope the PUBG Lite team manages to fix most of the bugs and issues since PUBG PC as well as PUBG Mobile are plagued with bugs.

The gameplay is similar to that what you’d find on PUBG PC and the only noticeable difference is the graphics of the game otherwise PUBG Lite does offer the exact same epic battle royale experience as PUBG PC only in a lighter package.

PUBG Lite availability

Currently, the game is in a beta testing stage and is only available in Thailand; PUBG Corp. hasn’t yet confirmed any details as to when we could expect the official global release of PUBG Lite.

In fact, it’s still not clear if and when PUBG Lite Beta would be available in any other regions. Nonetheless, if you’re not a big fan of mobile gaming and are looking for a great game to play on PC which requires low-end specs, then PUBG Lite is definitely worth waiting for.

If you don’t feel like waiting for the PUBG Lite Beta to make its way over to your regions, then you could simply use a VPN service which has access to servers in Thailand to mask your IP address.

Once you’ve downloaded the game be sure to continue running the VPN service connected to Thailand servers to play the game.
