After you meet Thunder Trainer Zentaro, Zentaro’s quest sends you to Butterfly Mansion for training. Watch for Butterfly Estate when you arrive—that’s another displayed name for Butterfly Mansion, and the one you’ll see on the zone banner.
Prepare your movement skills and trainer materials
Thunder Breathing belongs to Slayer-path progression. Village stalls don’t sell it, and reaching a level milestone alone won’t grant the style. You earn it through the trainer’s quest.
Double jump and wall climbing become available at level 4, with Wall Climb obtained through the Skill Tree. That movement milestone is separate from Zentaro’s displayed Lvl. 25+ label; reaching the terrain and qualifying for training are different parts of the trip.
Bring Demon Horns and Wen for the training payment. The horn estimate is roughly seven to ten, with ten horns suggested as preparation, not an exact fee or a guarantee of quest acceptance. Gathering materials before the climb helps avoid a return trip for supplies.
Start Zentaro’s training quest for Butterfly Estate
The mountain approach passes near the bear village, while the trainer’s pillar is also described as close to Hidden Mist Village. Look above the surrounding terrain, away from the main paths.

Find Butterfly Mansion from Bamboo Grove
Begin this approach in Bamboo Grove. It takes you through a walled canyon and over an upper cliff before the descent into the estate’s valley.
Continue past the Japanese-style buildings and purple trees until you arrive outside the main mansion building.

For the Village Center starting point, Butterfly Mansion sits on raised ground in eastern Map 1, overlooking the main area. Its position is approximately 350 studs from the village, in the map’s eastern-middle area.
Use the map’s teleportation feature to shorten cross-map travel during the training quest.
Finish the six Thunder Breathing objectives
The quest window starts at Thunder Breathing Training 0/6. Its objectives are gated in order: prompts such as Do Meditate first and Do Cup Training first direct you back to the preceding activity. Each completed entry receives a tick, letting you track what comes next.

Use Thunder Breathing’s moves and Skill Tree
After training, open the Skill Tree and find the Thunder Breathing branch. Later forms have separate Skill Point progression, so earning the style is the start of developing its moveset.
Thunder attacks and movement behavior
| Move | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Thunder Clap and Flash | Available by default after the style unlock. Aim upward or downward to control direction, and adjust your aim’s distance to travel farther or stop short. The finishing spin swing knocks enemies backward, allowing a jump toward the target to continue a combo. |
| Lightning Fold | Hold X to target an NPC highlighted yellow. The attack teleports you upward toward the target before slamming down. |
| Rice Spirit | Hold and release C to strike nearby targets within the move’s area. |
| Godspeed | Press V for a forward movement attack that serves as travel and can hit an NPC. |
| Flaming Thunder God | The ultimate triggers a cinematic attack sequence with lightning and slashes. |
Reach the cliffside boss for Thunder drops
After earning the style, the boss below the trainer’s cliffs becomes your target for Thunder Haori, Thunder Katana, and Flaming Thunder God. These are chance-based rewards from repeated fights. You can pursue the equipment before meeting the ultimate’s progression condition.
