Nokia and Meizu join hands to hold a conference in June

Nokia and Meizu

Back in 2015, Nokia, the Finnish company announced that it would re-enter the smartphone market in Q4 2016. And as promised, it did announce its re-entry last year with its first set of devices launched at the MWC 2017 event. As a matter of fact, we all know that Nokia just brand licenses phones while HMD Global manufactures them.

But, initially, Nokia was rumored to join forces with Meizu, a Chinese smartphone vendor to manufacture, market as well as sell its devices. This rumor has surfaced online once again now.

A Weibo post suggests that Nokia along with Meizu could hold a joint conference in June. We are not yet fully aware of what both these companies plan to announce or even if the conference itself is happening or not. So, we recommend you take this piece with the proverbial pinch of salt.

Yesterday, Nokia’s upcoming smartphone called the Nokia 9 appeared on Geekbench revealing scores similar to that of the much-rumored OnePlus 5 and Xiaomi Mi6. The device will, of course, be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and will pack 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and is expected to offer tough competition to high-end devices. You can have a clear look at the rumored specs as well as the images of Nokia 9 here.
