QUICK ANSWER
To clear the Building Blocks (Chapter 4) objective, win the game while you and Trace combine for 50+ points by running Quick Pick & Roll on nearly every possession — trigger the play, then either score off the roll or pass to Trace under the basket.

This objective shows up mid-story in NBA 2K27’s Co-Op MyCAREER, and it trips people up because the tally only moves on points that come off a very specific action. The fix is a single play you run again and again with your Running Mate, Tracenothing fancy, just a pick-and-roll loop for the whole game. Here’s exactly what the objective wants and how to lock all three stars.

What the Building Blocks objective actually requires

The objective lives in the Fire and Concrete story quest, specifically Chapter 4 — Building Blocks — the G League game you play against the Texas Legends. The on-screen checklist spells it out plainly: “Win and score 50+ points (MP & Trace combined) using Running Mate Quick Plays.”

Key Two conditions have to be met, not one. You have to win the game, and you and Trace — your Running Mate teammate — have to combine for at least 50 points, all of them scored off Running Mate Quick Plays. The good news is that it doesn’t matter who finishes: points count whether MP or Trace puts the ball in, as long as the bucket comes during a quick play you triggered. That flexibility is what makes the loop below so reliable.

Xbox A (after Up on the D-Pad)

The entire objective comes down to one play you run over and over — Quick Pick & Roll with Trace — so trigger it, score off it or feed him the roll, and repeat for the full game.

While holding the ball, press Up on the D-Pad and pick Quick Pick & Roll with X on PlayStation or A on Xbox.

STEP 2/3

As Trace comes up to set the screen, roll off it toward the three-point line or the mid-range and put up your shot, since a make here counts toward the 50.

STEP 3/3

Or feed Trace under the rim

If your shot is unreliable, wait for Trace to seal under the basket and pass him the ball so he finishes, because his points count exactly the same as yours.

The trigger is identical on both platforms — Up on the D-Pad opens the quick-play menu every time. Only the confirm button changes:

QUICK WIN

Keep every possession on Trace — trigger Quick Pick & Roll, then score off it or feed him the roll, and don’t hand the ball to any other teammate or run the set plays the game calls, because only points off a triggered quick play feed the tally.

Drop the difficulty to Rookie if scoring stalls

If your build’s attributes are low and buckets simply aren’t falling, there’s a fair crutch. Pause into Settings and drop Game Difficulty to Rookie before you finish the game out. The tradeoff is that Rookie cuts your MyPOINTS modifier to about 30% for that single game, so you earn less XP — but that hit lands on one game only, and locking all three stars is worth far more than the lost experience.

This grind also finishes the Everybody Eats Dynasty Badge quest

Running the pick-and-roll this way pays off twice. A separate quest, the Everybody Eats Dynasty Badge, asks you to score 20 times off Running Mate Quick Plays — and since every basket you and Trace generate here comes off exactly that action, you’ll be chipping away at it in the same session. Clearing Building Blocks now also means you won’t have to come back and grind these plays all over again later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a friend drop in to control Trace while I grind this objective?

Yes. NBA 2K27’s Co-Op MyCAREER lets a friend join your career and take control of Trace, your Running Mate, and you can toggle co-op on or off game by game. One thing to know before you invite them in: the player running the MyPLAYER keeps all the MyCAREER progress, so your objective and star credit are safe, while the friend dropping in as Trace earns VC and Season level progress but no Badge progress of their own.
