How to remove the keyboard black bar on Android 10 update on Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 devices

Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone

Samsung has officially kicked off the One UI beta program for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 in certain countries, already releasing two updates for the S-series flagship. The South Korean OEM is desperate to improve upon its Android rollout record and seems to be on course for the same.

This year, Samsung has launched its beta program almost a month earlier than last year, which Google itself commended. The first beta version was a bit of a mess, but the Samsung has bounced back gracefully with the second rollout.

Samsung isn’t changing the look and feel of the UI, but the presence of Android 10 is quite apparent. Dark mode has been enhanced, Permission control is working like a charm, and there’s also Focus Mode to help you get some work done.

However, like every beta, this one, too, comes with its fair share of pesky grievances. As most users are porting straight from a Pie-based One UI, having a couple of incompatibility issues/bugs is not uncommon. One such irregularity is a black bar appearing right under the keyboard, which makes typing a bit uncomfortable, and, of course, pretty inaccurate.

The black bar underneath is originally meant to house the keyboard swap and keyboard hide buttons. But if your experience gets hampered with the inclusion, there’s an option to make it disappear, as well.

Here’s how to remove the black bar on your One UI 2-toting Galaxy S10 or Note 10:

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Display.

Step 3: Go to Navigation bar.

Step 4: Toggle off Show button to hide keyboard.

    Thanks very much for this!

  3. Easy fix but wonderful. Instead of using terminal and facing unintended consequences, this is a much better option. Thank you so much
