QUICK ANSWER
Kill a Striped Bark Scorpion near Gnarly Bark and Skunk Pond, harvest its Striped Scorpion Chunk, Pincer, and Stinger, then analyze all three at a Resource Analyzer to unlock the Tier 4 Striped armor recipes.

The Into the Abyss update (version 0.5.0) is the build tied to this Tier 4 Striped Bark Scorpion gear route; August 11, 2026 is not the live-release date to use for finding it. The scorpion is the creature you need to beat to open the new gear. There’s no quest hoop and no brainpower gate to hunt down here — the recipes are locked behind loot you carve off the scorpion and feed into a lab scanner. Do that once and the whole Striped line, armor and weapon alike, deciphers in a single sitting.

What the Striped scorpion parts actually unlock

Recipe How it unlocks
Striped Mask (Tier 4 armor) Deciphered when you scan the three scorpion parts
Striped Spaulders (Tier 4 armor) Deciphered from the same scan
Striped Greaves (Tier 4 armor) Deciphered from the same scan
Striped Slashers (Tier 4 weapon) Deciphered from the same scan
Repair Glue Deciphered from the same scan
Stuffed Striped Bark Scorpion (decor) Deciphered from the same scan
Striped Bark Scorpion Wall Mount (decor) Deciphered from the same scan

Scanning the scorpion’s remains deciphers the pieces individually, so the recipes pop in a few separate batches instead of one boxed set. The armor slots (Striped Mask, Striped Spaulders, Striped Greaves) unlock alongside the Striped Slashers weapon and a couple of decor and utility recipes from the exact same material chain. The gear is Tier 4 Rogue Armor with a Venom Parry bonus, built around dodging and punishing rather than tanking hits.

Key The individual pieces carry the “Striped” name on-screen; the game unlocks them recipe by recipe rather than as one single “Striped Armor” bundle.

How to unlock Tier 4 Striped armor in Grounded 2

The full loop is short — find the scorpion in the south, smash it down, and scan what it drops at any lab.

STEP 1/7

Travel to the south side near Gnarly Bark

Head to the southern part of the map by Gnarly Bark and Skunk Pond, then look for the scorpion’s nest tucked beneath the orange plastic track structures.

STEP 2/7

Bring a spider and drop into the nest

Have a spider companion with you before you descend into the pit where the scorpion is waiting.

STEP 3/7

Read its weakness on the Peep screen

The Striped Bark Scorpion is weak to Smashing and resists Fresh, Slashing, and Venom, so a blunt weapon is the play.

STEP 4/7

Break it down with a club, focusing the stinger

Swing a club at its weak points, hit its rump and stinger, and land a special attack from behind for a big chunk of damage.

STEP 5/7

Harvest the three Striped Scorpion parts

Looting the body gives you the Striped Scorpion Chunk, Pincer, and Stinger — the three materials the recipes need.

STEP 6/7

Find any lab and its Resource Analyzer

Step inside any lab in the region and walk up to a scanner station.

STEP 7/7

Scan all three parts to unlock the recipes

Analyze the Chunk, Pincer, and Stinger together and the Tier 4 Striped armor and weapon recipes decipher on the spot.

QUICK WIN

Scan all three parts — the Chunk, the Pincer, and the Stinger — not just the first one that drops; the recipes only finish deciphering once every piece has been through the analyzer.

Killing the Striped Bark Scorpion without wasting gear

Trait Detail
Weakness Smashing
Resistances Fresh, Slashing, Venom
Weak points Rump and stinger
Best weapons Clubs or hammers

This fight is entirely about matching its damage profile. The scorpion shrugs off Slashing and Venom and takes reduced damage from Fresh, so bringing a sword or anything venom-tipped just drags the fight out and gives its new tail-whip more chances to land. A club or a hammer leans straight into its Smashing weakness, and lining up hits on the rump and stinger is where you’ll see the numbers spike. Position behind it when you can — a rear special attack does a lot of work here.

Crafting costs for the Striped gear

Item Materials
Striped Mask 4 Scorpion Venom, 2 Striped Scorpion Stingers, 3 Pupa Leather
Striped Spaulders 5 Striped Scorpion Chunks, 5 Striped Scorpion Pincers, 4 Lingoberry Leather

Once the recipes are open, the crafting bench shows what each piece runs. The two pieces with visible costs both lean on scorpion loot plus a leather, so keep a few kills’ worth of parts on hand before you commit. The Striped Greaves and Striped Slashers costs do not appear on these recipe screens, so budget extra scorpion parts and expect a similar bill of materials.

If the new recipes don’t show up

The usual culprit is that the relevant update content isn’t fully installed — the Striped Bark Scorpion and its loot are tied to the update build that adds them, not to an August 11, 2026 live release marker, so update first if the creature isn’t spawning. If you scanned but only some recipes deciphered, make sure you analyzed each separate part rather than one, and that you used an actual Resource Analyzer inside a lab rather than a different station. And if a part never landed in your inventory, head back and kill the scorpion again — you need the Chunk, Pincer, and Stinger all in hand before the full set will unlock.
