Gold Foil is one of the fresh materials that arrived with the Into the Abyss update on August 11, landing alongside late-game resources like Cattail Fuzz, Phantom Quartz Shards, and Hyper Beam. It comes from foil-wrapped Chocolate Cups scattered around the park, and there are a couple of reliable spots to grab it if you know where the cups hide.

Key Every Chocolate Cup you knock down drops Gold Foil, so the trick is simply finding the cups. There are a few of these nodes out in the world, but two are easy to pin down right now: one tucked inside a paper boat under the main tree in Gnarly Bark, and a second stash up near the Optical Disk marker’s bird’s nest. Both are quick pickups once you know the route.

The tree sits near the water biome inside the Gnarly Bark biome, and the way in is right under it.

Follow the entrance beneath the tree roots down into the water cave.

Push forward through the cave water until you reach the small submerged paper boat.

Break the whole Chocolate Cup and grab every Gold Foil drop before you swim back out — the node clears in one hit, so there’s no reason to leave any behind.

More Gold Foil at the Optical Disk nest
Once you’ve cleared the boat, there’s a second spot worth the detour near the Optical Disk marker. Climb up above the marker to the bird’s nest and you’ll find more Gold Foil waiting there — around five pieces, give or take, so it’s a solid top-up rather than a fixed guaranteed count. Between the paper boat and this nest, you can stack a decent amount of the resource in a single trip through the area.
Gold Foil versus Gold Cards
It’s easy to mix these two up, so keep them straight: Gold Foil is a crafting resource that comes from Chocolate Cups. Gold Cards are something else entirely — collectible bestiary cards tied to creature drops and mutation unlocks, with their own separate rules. If you’re farming for Gold Foil, ignore the card side of things completely; you only care about the cups.
