Google Pixel 2 to be announced on 4 October

Update September 14th: Google has sent out official press invites for its event, which will begin at 9 AM PT in San Francisco on October 4th.

Update September 14th: Google has released a new “thinking about changing phones” video that points to October 4.

Funny you should ask...

A few days back we reported that Google will announce the second generation of Pixel devices on October 5, a day after the first generation Pixel devices were announced in 2016.

However, a billboard has been spotted in Boston that suggests Google will likely announce the Google Pixel 2 on October 4 itself, coinciding with last years launch date.

While the billboard directly doesn’t refer to the launch of Pixel devices, according to the Google billboard text that says “Ask more of your phone”, our best guess is they would launch Pixel on that day.

The Google Pixel 2 will come with thick bezels like the first gen, but the Google Pixel 2 XL will have smaller bezels similar to Samsung Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Mi Mix and iPhone X. Also, Google Pixel 2 XL will be manufactured by LG while Google Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC.

Further, Google Pixel 2 series will sport Snapdragon 835 processor and not 836 as reported earlier, since the new report suggests that Snapdragon 836 doesn’t exist at all. Also, some reports suggest Pixel devices won’t feature a 3.5mm headphone jack (Grrr!).
