The Engagement Ring in Fields of Mistria is a late-game craftable item you unlock after reaching 10 hearts with a dating partner, then use to start the proposal and wedding process.
The Engagement Ring is the marriage proposal item added with the 1.0 release. You will not buy it early from a shop; you craft it after clearing the relationship gate and pushing deep enough into the Mines.
Once your partner is on the dating route at 10 hearts, learn Elsie’s recipe scroll, craft the ring at a forge, and give it to that partner to start the proposal scene.
What the Engagement Ring is for
The Engagement Ring is the proposal item for marriage. Use it on a 10-heart dating partner to open the future-together conversation, where you can propose or back out and save the decision for later.
This replaces the old expectation of a simple shop-bought Wedding Ring. In the current marriage system, you make the Engagement Ring yourself, and the recipe pulls from late-game mining materials.

Before the Engagement Ring matters, your relationship has to be on the marriage route. The big fork is the 8-heart event: choosing Dating keeps marriage open, while choosing Best Friend shuts off proposal events for that character.

The ring is a late-game craft because its recipe spans both the lava floors and the ancient ruins section of the Mines. If you have the hearts but cannot make the item yet, you still need Mistril access or the Dragon-Forged Core.
Check whether you have learned Elsie’s scroll before farming more materials; having the ingredients will not help if the Engagement Ring recipe is still sitting unused in your inventory.

The Dragon-Forged Core is the main bottleneck in the Engagement Ring recipe. You make it at the Dragon Forge on Mines level 90, and its ingredients push you into rare mine drops and deep-floor materials.
Reach the Dragon Forge with the required story progress and mine access for level 90. The level 100 milestone opens the full set of forge recipes as you continue deeper through the Mines.

Learn the recipe scroll
Use Elsie’s Engagement Ring recipe scroll from your inventory so the recipe appears at your blacksmithing station.
Use a forge station
Go to the blacksmithing station in front of March’s house, or use a forge placed on your farm.
Craft the Engagement Ring
Combine 2 Diamonds, 4 Mistril Ingots, 4 Gold Ingots, and 1 Dragon-Forged Core.
Hold the ring near your partner
Equip the Engagement Ring and walk up to the person you are dating at 10 hearts.
Choose the discuss prompt
Select the new discussion option to start the future-together scene.
Decide whether to propose
Pick the proposal option to get engaged, or postpone the proposal and trigger the scene again later.
Confirm the proposal
Complete the proposal choice to become officially engaged.
After the proposal
Right after the engagement scene, the calendar opens so you can choose a wedding date. The wedding lands a few in-game days later, so pick a day that fits your farm routine.
Getting engaged also changes your other romances. Anyone else you were dating shifts to Best Friend status, and the next day your mailbox can fill with breakup letters from former romantic interests.
Those former partners also get special dialogue afterward. The tone varies by character, but the relationship state changes as soon as the engagement is locked in.
Wedding day and marriage rewards
On the wedding day, Elsie and Josephine arrive in the morning and handle the practical farm side for you. The town helps with chores like feeding animals and watering crops, leaving the day focused on the ceremony.
Before the ceremony, you can customize your wedding outfit with special clothing and accessories, including gowns, suits, veils, flower clips, and top hats in multiple colorways. The ceremony and reception then play out with character-specific dialogue, so the scene changes based on who you marry.
After the wedding, your spouse moves into your house. You also receive an exclusive wedding photo, wake up with your spouse at home, get new married dialogue, and collect wedding gifts from the mailbox.

Marriage is not the end of the relationship systems. Later, family mechanics continue through the Mystical Feather path, which leads into children after you have been married for a while.
That is the next progression chain after the wedding, separate from the Engagement Ring itself. For the ring, your route is simply to reach the dating path, craft the late-game item, and make the proposal official.
