Sprint became the first U.S. carrier to release Android 9 Pie updates to Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ and now the carrier seems to have paved the way for more others to begin the official rollout.
Reports coming in suggest that users of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ on Boost Mobile can now download and install Samsung One UI on top of Android Pie to their devices.
Being U.S. variants, the software is arriving as version G950USQU5DSC1 for the S8 and G955USQU5DSC1 for the S8+. Just so you know, this is the same firmware version Sprint users are receiving.
The update, besides Pie and One UI, also tags along the latest Android security patch for March 2019, bringing the devices at par with newer models like the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
With a smaller carrier now rolling out Pie updates to their S8 and S8+ handsets, we expect the big boys like Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile to join the party very soon, probably before the end of this week.
