What to know

  • YouTube Music is rolling out a lyrics sharing feature for Android users.
  • You can select specific lines from a song's lyrics and share them as a custom image.
  • The feature lets you choose background colors and includes song details in the image.
  • The rollout is gradual, so not all users will see the feature immediately.

YouTube Music has started introducing a new lyrics sharing feature for Android users. This update builds on the real-time lyrics function added in 2023 and allows you to select and share lines from a song's lyrics as a visually appealing image.

To use the feature, open the Lyrics tab while playing a song. You will see a prominent, pill-shaped "Share" button at the bottom of the screen. Tapping this button takes you to an interface where you can tap on specific lines of lyrics to select them. Once you have chosen the lines you want to share, tap "Next."

You will then be able to customize the background color of your image using a color carousel. The image will display the album artwork, song title, and artist at the top, with a YouTube Music logo at the bottom.

After customizing your image, you can either save it to your device or share it directly through social media platforms and messaging apps. This makes it easy to highlight and share your favorite song lyrics with friends or followers.

Currently, the feature is only available to some users, as YouTube Music is rolling it out in phases. It may take some time before all Android users receive the update.

The feature is not yet available on every device, and there is no update in the Play Store for some users, suggesting that it is being enabled through a server-side update.

This new addition follows other recent updates to YouTube Music, such as consistent volume controls and AI-powered radio generators. The lyrics sharing feature aims to make it easier for you to express yourself and connect with others through music.
