QUICK ANSWER
To unlock Big Makeover in Big Walk, first complete the Yellow Lighthouse/Tower to open the tunnels, enter from the Blue Lighthouse tunnel, follow the colored tunnel route to the hidden paint studio, then get metallic shiny paint applied to your character.

Big Makeover is easy to miss because the shiny paint is not part of the normal surface paint setup. The route runs through Big Walk’s unlocked tunnel system, and the Blue Lighthouse side gives you the cleanest path to the hidden studio.

Big Makeover requires metallic shiny paint

Need Where
Prerequisite Yellow Tower completion
Best entrance Blue Lighthouse tunnel entrance
Light source Torch/flashlight on the entrance floor
Hidden studio Lower purple-area hidden wall
Unlock trigger Shiny metallic paint on your character

KEY!

The achievement’s in-game task is Get shiny. Here, “shiny” means your character has been painted with one of the special metallic colors inside the hidden underground paint studio.

Set up the Yellow Tower tunnel route

Finish the Yellow Lighthouse/Tower before going underground. That objective has you bring five red MacGuffins/totems to the tower and use the tower’s key sequence to open the island’s tunnel system.

Once the tunnels are open, go to the dome-shaped entrance near the Blue Lighthouse. This side lines up quickly with the green-pipe turn and the colored tunnel path.

Pick up the provided Torch/flashlight at the entrance. The tunnel is pitch black without it, and the color changes in the walls and floor are the main way you keep the route straight.

How to reach the Shiny in Big Walk

Start at the Blue Lighthouse entrance and use the colored tunnel sections as landmarks until you reach the hidden studio.

Apply the metallic paint to your character

Inside the studio, pick up the paintbrush and use the metallic set on the palette. The shiny paints are the special colors that were unavailable before; they are commonly treated as bronze, silver, and gold, while the visible pots can read as orange, white, and brown under the room lighting.

For the most reliable unlock, have another player hold the Shiny Paintbrush, choose one metallic color, and paint any part of your character. If the brush lets you paint yourself in your session, the same trigger is what matters: Big Makeover pops once shiny metallic paint is applied to your character.

Mistakes that block Big Makeover

The first failed route is usually an incomplete Yellow Tower prerequisite. If the tunnel doors are not available, return to the tower objective and finish the five MacGuffin/totem delivery and key sequence before trying the Blue Lighthouse entrance again.

QUICK WIN

Check the dead-end wall after the lower purple drop; the shiny studio is hidden there, so turning back at that point skips the achievement room.

Bring the entrance light even if you think you know the path. The tunnel route depends on colored sections, bridges, drops, and the red zigzag stairs, and it is easy to walk past the correct turn in the dark.

Do not treat the shiny paintbrush exactly like solo surface customization. If self-painting does not trigger anything, hand the brush to a co-op partner and have them paint your character instead.

Next goals after Big Makeover

Big Makeover sits on the 100% completion path rather than the story-critical path. After you have the shiny paint, the natural next checks are the full trophy list, including Big Game for finishing the game and Big Trophy for unlocking every other trophy.

The earlier paint room and standard color options are also worth cleaning up if you want full customization. For extended co-op cleanup, the August 5, 2026 SaveSync support update matters because it adds cross-host save sharing and migration for longer achievement hunts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get Big Makeover before completing the Yellow Lighthouse/Tower?

No. The shiny studio sits inside the tunnel system, so the Yellow Lighthouse/Tower objective must be finished before the route becomes available.

Which tunnel entrance is easiest for reaching the shiny paint studio?

The Blue Lighthouse entrance is the easiest route because it reaches the colored tunnel path quickly and avoids the less direct tower-side approaches.

Do you need another player to get painted shiny?

Use a co-op partner if the brush will not work on your own character. The achievement checks for your character receiving metallic shiny paint, so another player painting you is the dependable method.
