September 2026 has packed a lot of major releases into its first three weeks. From vampire-infested RPG worlds and samurai combat to Marvel’s Wolverine and Nintendo’s latest Fire Emblem, there is already plenty to play before the month reaches its final stretch.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
Released on September 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of September’s biggest new RPGs. It combines open-world exploration with dark fantasy, vampire mythology, and action-focused combat.
The game puts you in the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker caught between humanity and vampiric power. Its combination of supernatural abilities, swordplay, exploration, and a dark medieval setting makes it one of the month’s most substantial new RPG experiences.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom brought Onimusha back with Onimusha: Way of the Sword on September 4. The game delivers the series’ signature sword-focused combat in a new adventure built around samurai action and supernatural enemies.
It has also received strong attention from PC Gamer, which describes it as a mix of classic Capcom action and weighty sword combat.
Crimson Moon
Released on September 1, Crimson Moon opened the month with another RPG option. It is one of the earlier September releases currently listed across Xbox Series X/S and PC.
For players looking for something different from the month’s larger AAA releases, Crimson Moon gives September’s lineup an additional RPG-focused option.
Halloween: The Game
Horror fans got a new reason to turn down the lights with Halloween: The Game, which launched on September 8 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The release arrives just weeks before Halloween season properly gets underway, making it a particularly timely addition to September’s lineup.
Valheim 1.0
One of the most significant releases of the month is arguably Valheim 1.0. Iron Gate confirmed that the survival game would officially launch on September 9, adding its completed 1.0 release after its long Early Access journey.
Valheim remains built around exploration, crafting, survival, base building, combat, and cooperative play in a procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush launched on September 10, taking the Hot Wheels formula into an open-world racing environment. It features a large selection of cars and multiple activities spread across its open-world setting.
Marvel’s Wolverine
September 15 brought one of the month’s biggest releases: Marvel’s Wolverine. Developed for PS5, the game puts Wolverine at the center of a dedicated single-player action adventure.
Its September 15 launch makes it one of the headline releases of the month, arriving alongside several other notable September games.
Aniimo
Aniimo released on September 16 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Its arrival adds another creature-focused adventure to a month already packed with larger action and RPG releases.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Nintendo’s latest major September release is Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which launched on September 17. The game continues the tactical RPG tradition of the Fire Emblem series while introducing a new story and cast.
It is currently listed as one of September’s anticipated releases, with the launch date confirmed for September 17.
September 2026 still has more to come
The month isn’t finished yet. As of September 19, Control Resonant, Graveyard Keeper II, Silent Hill: Townfall, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Minecraft Dungeons II are still scheduled for later in September.
That means this list could look very different by the end of the month, particularly once the September 22 releases arrive.
The first three weeks of September 2026 have already delivered a broad selection of games. The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel’s Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Valheim 1.0, and Aniimo cover very different genres and audiences, while games such as Crimson Moon, Halloween: The Game, and Hot Wheels Infinite Rush add even more variety.
