Fields of Mistria currently has more than one carried-inventory capacity upgrade: the Basic Pouch and the 2,000 Tessarae Bag Upgrade from the General Store, with the Bag Upgrade expanding your inventory by 10 slots to 30 after you use it.
Your carried inventory fills up fast in Fields of Mistria, especially once tools, forage, mine drops, and crops start competing for the same space. The good news is that the available bag expansions are simple to get once you know where the shop hides them.
Current inventory upgrade list in Fields of Mistria
| Upgrade | How to get it | Effect |

KEY!
The current version has more than one carried-inventory capacity upgrade: the Basic Pouch and the Bag Upgrade. They are not tied to a late-game quest chain or a hidden chest; they are shop purchases from the General Store.
How to unlock Inventory Slots in Fields of Mistria
Open the General Store shop

Go to the General Store in town and open the shop interface.
Use the shop category arrows

Click through the arrow buttons at the top of the shop screen to reach more categories.
Find the Bag Upgrade
Look near the tools section, around the axe/hatchet icon category, until you see Bag Upgrade.
Buy it for 2,000 Tessarae

Purchase the Bag Upgrade using 2,000 Tessarae.
Open your inventory

After buying it, check your inventory for the upgrade item and its prompt.
Press E to apply it

Press E when prompted to expand your inventory permanently.
After buying the Bag Upgrade, use it from your inventory with E; the purchase alone can leave you stuck at the previous space.
The Bag Upgrade capacity change

Your starting carried inventory has 10 slots. Once the Basic Pouch and then the Bag Upgrade are applied, your carried inventory becomes 30 total slots, with the Bag Upgrade adding 10 slots.
The expanded inventory is shown as 30 slots, so use that full carried-inventory space when organizing your items after the upgrade.
Bag Upgrade mistakes and limits
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Only checking the first General Store page | Use the top category arrows to browse the rest of the shop. |
| Buying the upgrade but still having 10 slots | Open your inventory and press E on the Bag Upgrade prompt. |
| Looking for “gold” instead of Tessarae | Use the in-game currency name: Tessarae. |
| Expecting more late-game bag upgrades | Plan around the current carried-inventory cap of 30 slots. |
Most confusion comes from the shop layout and the activation step. If the upgrade seems missing or your inventory did not expand, check these issues first.
Future updates may add more ways to expand carried inventory, but the current carried-inventory cap after the Bag Upgrade is 30 slots.
Managing items after the Bag Upgrade
Once you hit the 30-slot carried-inventory cap, your next gains come from better storage habits rather than another bag purchase. Place storage furniture such as chests and dressers on your farm or in your house so materials, spare decor, and seasonal items are not sitting in your pockets.
It also helps to be stricter about tool carrying. Upgrade tools at the Blacksmith/Forge when you can, and only bring the tools you actually need for the day’s route, especially before mining or long forage runs.
