Xiaomi is all set to launch its new offering, the Xiaomi Play on Dec 24 in China. And in the run-up, it has already begun building up excitement for the device. Just a couple of days ago it teased posters of the Xiaomi Play confirming that the device will launch in gradient finish and with a water-drop notch, which will be first for any Xiaomi smartphones.
Following the teaser posters now Xiaomi has further scaled up the hype with a new post on Weibo which vaguely suggests about the potency of the phone. No wonder we already know the upcoming phone is geared towards gaming.

The post says Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, will be there at the launch site and will challenge a Guinness World Record with the Xiaomi Play. There is a 31-second embedded video teaser with the post that presumably suggests power and performance of the smartphone. We guess it boasts about the gaming capability, video play, and better audio quality.

The previous teaser posters besides giving away a water-drop notch also confirm a dual rear-camera setup and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
This week on TENNA a new Xiaomi smartphone was spotted, believed to be the Redmi 7 or Redmi 7 Pro. But it seems it was Xiaomi Play, though not much clarity has emerged on this as yet.
Based on rumors, the Xiaomi Play will feature a 5.84-inch full HD+ display and 2.3GHz octa-core Snapdragon processor, coming in 4GB+64GB, 6GB+64GB, and 6GB+128GB variants as well as Black, Dream Blue and Dawn Gold color scheme.
Much of the details are still shrouded in a mystery, so we will wait for Dec 24 to officially learn all about the phone. The Xiaomi Play is expected to butt its head with the Honor Play.
