Xiaomi confirms Android Pie update for Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite doesn’t support rollback

The Android 9 Pie update for the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite has been available ever since last month, while the older Mi A1 started getting updated to the latest version of Android not so long ago.

Now Xiaomi has issued a warning in which it informs users of these devices that they shouldn’t attempt to do a rollback once the Android 9 Pie update has been installed on board. For more clarity, this means that one cannot go back to Oreo after updating to Android Pie.

Xiaomi explains that this is due to the fact that Android Pie is bringing many irreversible updates to the system. So rolling back to the previous version, might brick your device.

This is something very important to keep that in mind if you are the owner of a Mi A1, Mi A2 or Mi A2 Lite who is considering installing Android Pie.

We recommend that you read about Android Pie beforehand and get acquainted with the new set of features that it brings to the table, before deciding whether or not to update or not.
