The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has recently announced that the Mi Mix 2 will be officially launched on September 11th in China. Soon after this announcement, Xiaomi’s President also shared a message on his Weibo handle talking about Mi Note 3 — and that they would also launch Mi Note 3 along with Mi Mix 2 at the event.

That said, we have now spotted some images of the packaging box of the Mi Note 3. As you can see on the front of the box, there is a ‘Note 3’ written in a big font, and Xiaomi’s Mi logo at the top right, making it amply clear that this is a box of none other than Xiaomi Mi Note 3. At the back, a few of the important features/ specs are listed.

The first thing to note here is the fact that the box contains a 6GB+128GB RAM and storage capacity. Apart from that, it also looks like the Mi Note 3 will have glass back, giving it bit of a more premium feel. And lastly, we can see that smartphone will have a dual camera setup and will be powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC.

That Xiaomi is looking to power the Mi Note 3 by Snapdragon 660 could be a let-down for some, as this phone’s predecessor in Mi Note 2 housed the then-bets Snapdragon 821 chip, but we wouldn’t look at it disgracefully until we’ve given Mi Note 3 a fair chances at impressing us. And make no mistake, the SD660 chipset is no slouch when it comes to performance. If you are interested in knowing more about it, then we suggest you keep your eyes peeled as we are just a couple of days away from the launch.

We expect the Mi Note 3 to be powered by MIUI 9, based on Android 7.0 OS, but we hope Xiaomi has plans to release the Oreo update for the Mi Note 3 sooner than later. They haven’t revealed their Oreo update plans yet, but thanks to custom ROM called LineageOS 15 — of which you may be already aware by good measure if you follow these pages — the Android 8.0 Oreo update is already available for variety of Xiaomi devices: Redmi 2, Redmi 3, Mi 5S, Mi Mix, etc. Check out our full coverage here: LineageOS 15 download and device list.
