QUICK ANSWER
This week in World of Warcraft, clear Venomous Abyss story mode and LFR, run Wrath Timewalking and Ulduar for easy Hero gear, farm Molly and the Cache of Timeworn Treasures mounts, finish the expiring Let Me Solo Him: Asteroc achievement, join the Northrend Sky Racing Cup, and claim the active Twitch Drop before it ends.

It is a loaded week in World of Warcraft, and most of what is on offer is either free gear that costs you almost no effort or a reward that vanishes on a deadline. With Season 2 and the new raid live, several easy Hero and Champion pieces are sitting behind quick weekly quests, while a handful of mounts, titles and cosmetics are only up for a few more days. Here is the full list, sorted so you know exactly what to touch first.

This week’s priority checklist at a glance

Activity Reward
Venomous Abyss story mode Finishes the campaign raid step, plus one Champion-quality ring
Venomous Abyss LFR (wing one) Extra tier-set loot chance
Ulduar in Wrath Timewalking Champion gear from every boss
Frozen Journey Through Time (weekly) Cache with a Hero-track piece from the new raid
Disturbance Detected: Ulduar (weekly) Cache of Timeworn Treasures — guaranteed Hero item, Catalyst-eligible
Dune Gorger Krolok world boss Molly mount chance
Let Me Solo Him: Asteroc Achievement, title, mount and wing transmog
Northrend Sky Racing Cup Transmog sets, cloak, toys, dragonriding manuscripts
WoW Twitch Drop Sorcerer’s Grasping Garb ensemble

The two Ulduar weekly quests are the highest value for the least effort, so start there and work down. Anything with a hard deadline — the Let Me Solo Him title, Molly, the racing cup and the Twitch Drop — should come before the weekly reset, since some of it is gone for good.

Venomous Abyss story mode and LFR loot

The Venomous Abyss raid opens in story mode this week, and that matters for more than a clear. The final chapter of the campaign asks you to complete the raid, and until now that meant running it on normal, heroic or mythic. Story mode gives you an easy, guaranteed way to tick that box — and finishing it hands you one of two rings at Champion quality. If you have been stuck on that last campaign step, this is the fastest way through it.

Alongside it, the first wing of LFR goes live. It is not a big power jump, but if your tier set is still incomplete, LFR difficulty is one more roll at those pieces. Queue it on any character that still needs set tokens.

Wrath Timewalking and Ulduar for easy Hero gear

Quest or activity Reward
Ulduar bosses (Timewalking) Champion gear from each boss
Frozen Journey Through Time Cache with a Hero piece from the new raid (5 Ulduar bosses or 5 Timewalking dungeons)
Disturbance Detected: Ulduar Cache of Timeworn Treasures — guaranteed Hero item, usable at the Catalyst (kill Yogg-Saron)

The Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking event is the best gearing window of the week. While it runs, Ulduar is available on Timewalking difficulty, and every boss inside drops Champion gear. Those bosses are trivial to kill, so it is worth clearing on your alts for the loot alone. The real prizes, though, are the two weekly quests.

Frozen Journey Through Time is the one you pick up in Silvermoon. It asks you to kill five Ulduar bosses or complete five Timewalking dungeons, and it pays out a cache holding a Hero-track piece from the new raid — a genuinely strong reward for content this easy. The second quest, Disturbance Detected: Ulduar, comes from Dalaran (the Wrath version, at the center of town) and only asks you to kill Yogg-Saron on Timewalking. Doing so gives you a Cache of Timeworn Treasures with a guaranteed Hero piece from the Ulduar loot table that you can take to the Catalyst.

Because Disturbance Detected only needs the last boss dead, you do not have to clear the whole raid — you can skip straight to Yogg-Saron and be done in a few minutes.

Defeat him and grab the item from the cache.

STEP 06 · OF 06

Leave and turn in

Drop the group and complete the quest — tipping the host some gold is optional, but a nice touch.

Key Level 90 characters get the Hero piece, but any alt that can run the Timewalking version can do the quest, which makes this a fast way to feed gear to your whole roster.

QUICK WIN

Run the Yogg-Saron skip on every eligible alt this week — it is a guaranteed Hero item in five to ten minutes each, and the cache can also cough up a rare mount.

Rare mount chances worth farming now

Mount
Invincible’s Reins
Mimiron’s Head
Molly

The Cache of Timeworn Treasures from Disturbance Detected is not just gear — it also carries a bonus shot at two of Ulduar’s classic mounts, Invincible’s Reins and Mimiron’s Head. If either is still missing from your collection, running the skip on multiple characters gives you more rolls at them this week.

The other mount to chase is Molly, which drops from the world boss Dune Gorger Krolok in Vol’dun. This one is on a rotation and is only up for a limited window, so it is worth clearing while you can — you get one loot chance per character while the boss is active.

Limited-time cosmetics and titles leaving soon

Reward Deadline
Northrend Sky Racing Cup rewards September 7
Let Me Solo Him: Asteroc title and achievement Weekly reset (about two days) — then gone forever
Sorcerer’s Grasping Garb ensemble (Twitch Drop) September 8

The Northrend Sky Racing Cup is running, and these dragonriding cups only come around every few months — sometimes with almost a year between them — so grab the rewards while it is up. It runs until September 7 and pays out transmog sets, a cloak, a batch of toys, dragonriding manuscripts and several achievements. For full details, head to Valdrakken near the Rostrum.

The tighter deadline is the Let Me Solo Him: Asteroc achievement. You defeat the new Nemesis boss Asteroc, and if you manage it before the weekly reset — only about two days out — you keep the achievement and its title, both of which leave forever afterward. It is not a pushover, but with decent gear and a solid grasp of your class it is doable. The same kill also grants a mount (which stays farmable through the rest of the season) and a wing transmog. Finally, there is a free Twitch Drop up until September 8 that awards the Sorcerer’s Grasping Garb ensemble.

The best order for alts and fresh characters

If you are gearing several characters, hit the guaranteed gear first. Do the two Ulduar weekly quests — Frozen Journey Through Time and the Yogg-Saron skip — on each eligible character, then sweep the Timewalking Ulduar bosses for extra Champion pieces and finish Venomous Abyss story mode for the ring. Once the gear is banked, spend your remaining time on the mount attempts and the expiring cosmetics. Treat it as a rough priority rather than a fixed rotation — the point is to lock in the free power before you chase the collectibles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Ulduar Hero item turn into a tier piece at the Catalyst?

Yes. The item from the Cache of Timeworn Treasures comes from the Ulduar loot table, but it is Catalyst-eligible, so you can convert it into a tier-set piece from the current patch. For example, if the cache gives you a pair of shoulders, you can turn them into your tier shoulders — just aim for the slots you still need.

Can Molly be farmed more than once a week on the same character?

No. Dune Gorger Krolok gives one loot chance per week per character, and queuing in again on the same character does nothing. If you want more attempts, run it on your alts instead. Once the weekly reset hits, the boss is gone for about six weeks before it rotates back.

Does the Twitch Drop require watching a specific streamer?

No. Link your Battle.net and Twitch accounts, then watch four hours of any World of Warcraft stream — any channel counts — and the Sorcerer’s Grasping Garb ensemble unlocks in game.
