Samsung has officially launched the new Galaxy Note 8 phablet recently, and already, people are booking the device in large numbers. As of yesterday, the word on the streets is that over 400,000 have made up their mind to buy this new phablet from the company in Korea itself.

And if you are an Android enthusiast, who is constantly on the lookout to root the device and explore other internal files, etc. then we may have some good news for you if you are panning to buy a Galaxy Note 8 and are wondering about the root access availability for the device.

As you may or may not know, the Galaxy Note 8 is being offered in two variants. One with the Exynos chipset, whereas the other one ships with the Snapdragon chipset. The Exynos variant ships with an unlocked bootloader, making it very easy to get a root access. However, the Snapdragon variant is not really developer friendly as the devices comes in locked state.

However, we believe the root access would be soon achieved on the Snapdragon-Note 8. Senior XDA member, who goes by the name me2151, revealed that he has successfully gained permissive selinux on the Note 8, and was also able to disable the DM-verity check on the device. However, what remains is a discovery of a trick that would allow one to flash the custom system image on a Note 8 using Odin. For those of you who don’t know him, he’s the mastermind behind the ‘dirtysanta exploit‘ for the LG V20.
