What Channel is Discovery Plus on Spectrum Cable?

With Discovery Plus freshly launched, putting up 55,000 episodes worth of Discovery network classics, new and old, many are no doubt excited to get in on the action and begin their weeks-long, 24/7 Mythbusters binge. But some of you may be wondering how to access the latest contender for your monthly subscription wallet via your TV and traditional cable; I mean, it’s the Discovery Channel, it has to be on TV right?

What Channel is Discovery Plus on Spectrum Cable?

Unfortunately, this isn’t the same Discovery channel you grew up with; Discovery Plus is only a subscription-based streaming service and won’t be airing on Spectrum or any other cable provider. Indeed, the very premise of Discovery Plus is that it scoops the Discovery Network’s enormous programming catalog and puts all in one place off TV — placing everything from HGTV, The Food Network, the new Magnolia Network, Animal Planet, the Science Channel etc into your hands through a single portal.

But rejoice! There are numerous ways to get in on the fun, and on almost any screen you choose. The subscription service operates much in the same way as any other major streaming platform and can be found on iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Web, Xbox, Roku, Apple TV, FireTV. If you want to watch any of your favorite Discovery Plus shows on TV, boot up a Chromecast, use Apple Airplay, or just go the good old’ HDMI route.

Additionally, Spectrum has partnered with Netflix recently to get the streaming platform working on their latest set-top box, the Charter Worldbox 2.0. There were also talks of Disney+ making its way onto the platform but that still seems to be in the works. There are chances that Discovery Plus might partner with Spectrum in the future. If there is any development on the same, we shall keep this post updated.

  1. Since Discovery Plus has started being offered I have noticed good shows that I used to watch are disappearing off of regular channels and are now being placed on Discovery Plus. Is this a cheap ploy to force us to subscribe?

    1. I’ve noticed the same thing and it’s very frustrating!! A lot of our programs have moved to discovery plus. The only way we can watch it is on my cell phone. Not happy.

  2. Yes, a cheap ploy. We pay a lot for those channels on cable and now they move the shows to another (additional pay) source, continue with repeats on cable, and still charge us/cable company too much to carry now limited channels. I have complained to Discovery and plan to complain to Spectrum.

  3. Just spoke with Spectrum / Charter and they claim they don’t know what I am talking about. It is plain and simple: If you don’t pay the streaming fee, you don’t get the new programs only re-runs. If you have never watched HGTV or any other “Discovery Channels” you will be happy with your cable provider. However, if you have watched since day one, and now see that no “new shows” are being run except by using the “PLUS STREAMING,” it is quite evident what is happening. I told Spectrum why would I continue to pay them for re-runs when it is going to cost me $4.99 more per month to get the new shows on Discovery Plus?

BTW folks, Paramount is getting ready to do the same thing and we are all going to be screwed by the cable companies because you have to chose a package not channel options as part of your payment plan. What a steal right? Benefits who? Not the consumer….

  4. This is frikin stupid. How dare yu try to force us to stream vs cable. Like seriously i have absolutely no desire to a d i resent the manipulation!!!!! Always something in to screw people out of even more money!
