Verizon Wireless has just released software updates for several of its smartphones, including the LG Stylo 5, LG G8, Nokia 2V, Palm and the Motorola E4 (the gold and prepaid editions). While the updates carry September patch for the LG and Motorola devices, the Nokia 2V is getting the October patch, and it’s August patch for the Palm handset.
The updates for LG Stylo 5 and LG G8 arrive as version Q720VS10b and G820UM10g respectively and install September 2019 security patch. The LG G8 update also brings updates for pre-installed apps. Notably, this is a first update for the LG Stylo 5. FYI, Android 10 update has been leaked on the LG G8, and it shall be receiving a beta version of the latest update soon.
Nokia’s 2V update is identified as software version 00WW_1_13E and brings the latest in October 2019 security patch.
We also see the Palm phone that was released back in November last year getting an update today.
The new software version for the Palm handset is 1AMD, which brings with it a fair amount of changes. We can see improvements for camera and photo apps, Life-mode, the Contacts and the Dialer apps, among other things, but one great addition is the ability to launch Google Assistant by pressing the power button two times. The update also improves Wi-Fi calling and OTA client, while the registration screen is getting a new setup wizard.
All of these updates are available immediately via the OTA client on the devices themselves or via the Software Upgrade Assistant tool from Verizon on PC.
