One of the most surprising yet practical additions in iOS 26 is the new name recognition feature. Apple’s pushing personal awareness further by helping iPhones react when your name is mentioned nearby.

With this new feature, you can now train your iPhone to recognize your name, including how it's pronounced.

As seen in the image, you type in your name, record a voice sample (your own or someone else's), and once set up, iPhone will listen out for it. If your name is spoken, it can notify you—ideal for public places, work calls, or if you’re zoned out with headphones on. Reddit user u/jacobdrj called this a “feature nobody asked for, but actually pretty cool.” Others like u/Accomplished-Hawk64 highlighted how helpful it could be for people with hearing issues or attention difficulties.

It’s a niche feature, sure—but the kind that makes iPhones feel more personal and attentive. Can’t wait to see how well it works live.
