Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Specs Appear– 5.5-inch 1680 x 1050 pixel display, Quad Core and 1.5GB RAM!

Wow – the first rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It might not garner as much hype as the Galaxy S3 did and is still doing, but man, the Galaxy note 2 is successor to a device that sold more than 7 million units worldwide and admit it, is just overwhelmingly loved by those who have managed to use it. Yes, there is little bit of pun intended there.

Before we head to specs, there is something about the release date, it’s said to be releasing in October this year, which is good one month before expected November launch of next Nexus by Google and cool 3 months after Galaxy S3 is launched in US too (which will complete the launch all over the world, mostly). Surely, the comparatively early launching of Galaxy S3 in US and everywhere will allow Samsung to avoid clashing of its products (like it almost did in US with Galaxy S2 and AT&T Galaxy Note) while also churning out one awesome product after another.

Oh yes, you might not be liking the above image too much, but just know that it’s just a mock-up. So, no need to spoil the mood design-wise, at least yet. You know what I mean.

Anyway, here’s is what we have learnt about Note 2’s specifications.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Specs

  • 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with WSXGA+ resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels – Yes, that’s very very impressive, a 360PPI display (should be highest among the real world devices), and just a bit lower than full 1080p display. But again, it lacks the Plus, meaning obviously that it’s non-plus Super AMOLED display – more informative consumers would know how much of a difference Super AMOLED Plus (from Galaxy S2) and Super AMOLED (from Galaxy S) is, which is basically non-PenTile vs PenTile, respectively. And I think that we gotta wait for next Nexus or probably the Galaxy S4 to see the Super AMOLED Plus HD display in real.
  • Quad-core Exynos 5250 processor – That’s one notch above the quaddy Exynos 4212 chip powering the Galaxy S3 but we don’t know more about it yet. Clock rate — 1.2, 1.4, 1.5 or even 1.8GHz?
  • 4G LTE – That explains the capabilities of Exynos 5250 chip. The 4212 chips used in international Galaxy S3 are not capable of supporting 4G LTE bandwidths, forcing dear Sammy to use dual-core S4 processor in its American and Canadian Galaxy S3 sets. Seems that 5250 chip, based on ARM 15 architecture, understands 4G LTE networks pretty well, which is good. Btw, another quad-core chip to support 4G LTE network should be renewed Tegra 3 processor, called Tegra 3+, clocking at 1.8GHz, and launching around same time as expected release date of Galaxy Note 2.
  • 1.5GB RAM – Well, Optimus LTE 2 will have 2GB RAM and quad-core processor, while Samsung’s American Galaxy S3 already have 2GB RAM, but with dual-core S4 chips. So, 2GB RAM is what we expected on-board the Galaxy Note 2 but anyway, 1.5GB is huge too, should be very satisfying.
  • 8 megapixel camera – Yes, it’s got the same 8MP sensor, from Galaxy S2 to Galaxy Note to Galaxy S3, and now to Galaxy Note 2. But it’s said to be equipped with improved lens. I think it’s the same from Galaxy S3, which is not bad.
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – the minimum you would expect. Maybe Jellybean would have launched by that time but it would kinda out-of-world thing to expect Samsung to ship Galaxy Note 2 pre-installed with Jellybean.
  • Another apps and feature from the Galaxy S3 – S Voice, S Smart Stay eye tracking, S Beam (NFC), etc.

So, there you have it. Let us know of your thoughts in comments below. Stay with us for more rumors, leaks and announcements as they fly by.
