The Android 8.0 Oreo update has been out for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for almost a month now, and it is now finally trickling down to the Galaxy Note 8 as well. Although it is natural for device-specific issues to arise over time, but the fact that a particular one keeping popping up on the Galaxy S9, S8, and the Note 8 signals a software issue.

There have been reports that a small pop-up bubble at the bottom of the screen keeps appearing with the notification “2 messages pending delivery”. This seems to appear even when there are no pending text messages or email in the outbox of the apps. The number of messages in the pop-up bubble may be different for some, but it all seems to trace back to the Voicemail app.

  1. From the home screen of your device, head over to the Settings
  2. Scroll down to find the Apps menu and scroll down to find Voicemail
  3. Press the Force Stop button and then head over to Storage to Clear Data and Clear Cache of the app.
  4. Open the Notifications tab and disable the toggle switch to turn off notifications for the app.

You can even head over to the Voicemail app to see if there are any outbox messages pending. Once you delete them, the “messages pending delivery” notification should finally disappear.
